*More like a 3.5*
Not better than Adam and Rowan's story (in my opinion), but definitely better written.
I'm really looking forward to Shawn's story now! I've got the feeling it's going to be my favorite <3

I really enjoyed this book. I feel like so many books feature a virgin or at least wholesome heroine. In this case, Dee is a bit of a slut (self-admittedly) and has a lot of commitment and self-esteem issues. She is definitely flawed, and it was refreshing to see such a character as the main girl in this book.

Riot is book two in the Mayhem series, but can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone.

I'm a sucker for cool book covers and stories about music, but throw in a hot tattooed rocker who snores like a Rottweiler and I am SOLD! Seriously, nothing makes a character more believable and loveable (to me) than giving him/her a totally mundane flaw.

I liked the writing, found the characters and the storyline interesting albeit a little predictable. By the way, "predictable" is NOT a dirty word as far as I'm concerned. Sometimes I like not knowing how a story will end and other times, I WANT to know that, despite the drama, I'm going to get lots of kissing and a happy ending. (Riot has both in case you were wondering.)

I loved the friendships in this story, between Dee and Rowan as well as the guys in the band. Dee and Joel have a complicated relationship, one that involves laughter and tears and some interesting sexy times.

And while I may not have agreed with some of the choices Dee and Joel made, I could understand why they made them.

Fast, fun and full of emotion, Riot is the kind of story New Adult fans crave and I'm excited to see what comes next!

I love a good rock star story and I really enjoyed this one. Dee and Joel were incredibly frustrating at times but I think they each had their reasons for how they were. My only complaint about this story was
Spoiler when Dee has seen Joel take lots of groupies for a quick fuck, he's been with countless women and she's seen it first hand but when they are about to have sex and he doesn't have a condom with him, she tells him she's on the pill and then they have sex. I was really annoyed about this, there was no discussion about std's and I'm usually not a stickler for this but with how many women Dee knows he's been with and also Dee has been with lots of guys herself - I just found this unattractive. rant over.
Also, to my friends who hate when the hero or heroine hooks up with other people
Spoiler you will HATE this book! Both Joel and Dee are with other people after they start sleeping together!
Overall, I really enjoyed this story, I really like this series, and I'm looking forward to Shawn's story next!

This was an improvement from the first book, which makes sense because I think Mayhem was this author’s debut. Again, I love the nostalgia but I’m just not a fan of much else. Continuing with the series only because I’m hoping it gets better.

Riot...

Dee is Rowan's, the h from the first book, best friend.

Joel is the guitar player (?) in the band.

DNF @ 20%

Dee is too high drama, not enough substance, Joel we learned practically nothing about in the first book and so I have zero cares about him. Nothing here is keeping me interested enough to keep reading.

Slut shaming a-freaking-gin which is just old.

Moving on.
