This book started out not great, but after hearing good things about the movie I wanted to really give it a shot. I ended up really enjoying it even if it did get a bit ridiculous at times. The book definitely felt very cinematic, which made sense when I got to the authors' bios in the back. Ultimately enjoyable, but it is very much a YA novel and I might be just a little too old for that at this point.

I am very confused about this book. Confused how I feel about it. This book took an attempt to describe the perfect girl Veronica's choice of abortion but in a humorous way. Her douche boyfriend thought it would better to make her pregnant to keep her full beside him rather than late her go to Brown University, away from him to be more educated.

Now I must say, this is a very common scenario in the south asian region.my neighbour back in Bangladesh was a tremendously brilliant student and came to Australia after her marriage with her husband. She often had fights with her husband over her career so her own mother suggested her husband to make her pregnant quickly as possible so that she cannot pursue her career. Oh yes, shit can be done by your own blood! So veronica decided to get abortion and took help from her lost bff bailey!

I don't know my position to support abortion.I certainly against destroying life in any form I am also a supporter of bringing babies on this earth out of affection. Veronica might have hate her baby if she didn’t abort it her whole life. The baby might ended up at a foster home or a worst place.so many things to be considered for such storyplot.

Some people might say it is against the women empowerment but what I think this book is also about making a choice of your own and stick to it care nothing. It is about not accepting other's decision on your body, your future.

Just the funny bit doesn’t work for me.

It seemed fitting that I read this right now, in a time where the freedom to get an abortion has been taken from us.

Veronica Clark is a clear example of someone with their bright future ahead of them, who did all the right things and still got pregnant.

Really enjoyed this one

Honestly I really wanted to like this to the point where I kind of tricked myself into thinking I was enjoying it more than I did. It was fine, just not what I was expecting or wanting! Almost everything that happens is deeply contrived. And you're definitely meant to be invested in the friendship between Bailey and Veronica but I honestly disliked Bailey so much that it made it hard for me to care.

I read it in a day. A busy day.

The novel is movie-like: dialogue-driven and episodic, with character types and a bizarre, twisty road-trip.

If you enjoy the self-discovery, capers, and honesty of LadyBird and BookSmart, give this book a try.

Stories of this ilk are rare, for too many writers are timid about the realistic territory covered in this novel.

For delicate topics, it seems that only humor or science fiction can succeed in reaching an audience without being didactic; hence, a comedy about a serious subject.
