A low angst story about Steele, a mechanic who owns his own garage, and Porter, a vet who owns his own veterinary practice. They're both snowed under by responsibility, Steele from his business plus his man-child brother who is dealing with something in his life. Both characters are likable. There's a cute husky involved. Characters from the Bear Construction series play roles.

Yesss, I am a fan of the Big Bull Mechanics! I knew I would be after reading the Four Bears Construction series, but it did not disappoint. I absolutely adored Steele and Porter together. We'd seen Porter a few times before in the Four Bears series and Steele made a couple of appearances too, but I was so happy to get to know them better and see them get their happy ending together. They fit together perfectly and holy smokes their chemistry is off the charts. The steamy scenes were FIRE. Seriously.

One of my favorite little games to play in these kinds of romance series is "Spot the Future Couples", honestly. I absolutely don't mind them being teased or hinted at. At all. I always get a kick out of guessing them and being right, only to see their story unfold in a future book. I spotted a few possibilities, but the main tease is for the next book. More than a tease, really. There was quite a bit building up Gates and Tallahassee's book worked into this one, but not overly so. It didn't take away from Steele and Porter's story for me. I also enjoyed the cameo appearances of the Four Bears crew! Love those guys so much.

All in all, great start to a series that I'm sure to love!

New author to me and I heard good things about her books. This premise caught my eye. Definitely enjoyed the writing, characters and the story. I can't wait to dive into book 2. Now, I need to go stalk this author

This is the first of a new series, it's a spin off from the Four Bears series which I loved, but you don't have to read that first to enjoy this. It is set in the same world as that series and contains some wonderful cameos from the Bears but this is almost totally new.

I say almost, because this is Porter's story. We first meet Porter in the Four Bears series where he (hilariously) failed to snare more than one of the bears. On the face of it, Porter is a mild mannered veterinarian who just wants to find his Happy Ever After. Steele, the owner of Big Bull Mechanics is also introduced briefly but we get to know him so much better here, and I loved it.

I loved this book. On the face of it, we have the little nerdy veterinarian and the big burly mechanic so you know how this goes, right? Uh, nope. This is not that story, this is totally turned on its' head and I am here for it. I love when tropes get turned around this is done wonderfully. First of all, Porter is not some shrinking violet, he knows what he wants and is incredibly determined in how he's going to get it. He's toppy, dominant and has THE most utterly filthy mouth, and I adored it. Steele is the big cuddly softie who needs all the reassurance and I adored their interactions.

It's hilarious, sweet, utterly filthy, full of heat yet at the same utterly sweet and you'll just be with these guys all the way. I was, and now I can't wait for more.

This is all the tropes you've ever thought of all turned on their head and it's just brilliant. I can't recommend this more.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Crankshaft was a fun, low-angst, sweet read and an exciting start to this new series. I couldn’t get enough of Steele and Porter and loved the introduction to all of the Big Bull Mechanics crew!

Steele has been looking for love in all the wrong places and finding every excuse to break up with his boyfriends, so much so that his staff is in on the joke. He wants to find someone to settle down with but running a business doesn’t leave him much time for a personal life. Steele is a mechanic at heart who loves to get his hands dirty whenever he can and also has a sweet heart and temperament, which is very apparent with his Husky puppy Denali and even with his team and his brother Gates. He wants to take care of everyone, sometimes even to the point that he has no energy left for himself.

After Porter’s misadventures in dating the Four Bears Construction crew, I was SO excited to hear that he was getting a book of his own! We clearly only scratched the surface of his character before and getting to see him not on a first date was enlightening. He owns his own vet clinic (and is in a little over his head with all of the business owner stuff), is struggling with work/life balance and comes off as adorkably sweet but has a hidden dirty side that made me smile. Porter is loving and so smart but is hesitant to accept help from anyone, including his friends.

There was an instant easy connection between Steele and Porter from the very beginning. They both are struggling with running their business and having a life outside of it, so they have a lot in common. Their series of hookups that go nowhere were really endearing and I loved that they kept trying to make it work. They’re so understanding of each other’s struggles and start to realize the value of balance when they’re together. Their dynamic was unexpected but I really enjoyed bossy, dirty Porter and sweet, possessive Steele together!

I’m looking forward to the Big Bull Mechanics series - the mechanics have such a fun dynamic that’s not quite as crazy as the Four Bears team. I’m already rooting for some pairings in my head, but I can’t wait to see who ends up together! Tallahassee and Gates are up next and I’m sure they are going to take us (and probably Steele and Porter haha) on a wild ride.

This book was so good. I was waiting for that series to come out. What a good start. I love the characters the steaminess, the way it’s was written. I love it all.
