Although this is not a verbatum version of the Beowulf saga, it is an excellent version for those unfamiliar with the original text/translation or for those who want to read a more accessible version of the story. The artistry is superb and illustrates the story well. Each of the sections has a slightly different feel to it, giving the reader a clear sense of divide between each of the epic challenges Beowulf faces. I did find some scenes difficult to follow but this is more related to the fact that I am unfamiliar with the layout of graphic novels and not due to the work itself. An excellent version of the Beowulf saga, making it accessible to all.

Concise and enjoyable translation of the Beowulf tale, Heaney's chose of words are perfect and add something to the tale which previous translations have lost making the story more vivid and enthralling and unputdownable. In my view I would consider this as the ultimate Beowulf tale...only to be surpassed by the original text itself (if you can read it of course)

Maria Dhavana Headley's translation really manages to further convince me that translations are adaptations, too. it took me a while to get into it — her style is strong and consistent throughout, but it's not to my taste — but once I did, I enjoyed it. there's some gorgeous poetry in here

Amazing! Kingdoms, monsters, a dragon, brutal fights, and a history that feels real.
