If you can get past the vast amount of things that people would never do in normal life, then the story makes you want to read more to know what happened in the end. However, no right minded person would ever stay in the house or worse sleep in the bed of a woman whose family has experience the tragedy that verity’s has. Those types of eye-roll-inducing plot points continue and you have to accept how ridiculous they are and get past them to enjoy the rest of the story! Overall, it read like a young adult book with amateur smut and a predictable twist. This is the first Colleen Hoover book I’ve read and probably the last.

Holy mother forking shirtballs. This book was A LOT. I saw a lot of hype around Colleen Hoover and wasn’t sure what to make of it. Now that I read this book I get it. This book had me hooked and counting down the minutes until I could read it again each time I put it down. When I sat down to read every time I was transported to a Vermont home on a lake with a hospital bed and a sense of dread. The dual perspectives of Verity’s autobiography and Lowen’s perspective were amazing. Despite being absolutely repulsed with Verity’s autobiography I couldn’t get enough of the gory, horrid details. I got upset with Lowen when she didn’t read enough but skipped pages because I wanted to know what she was reading too.  The extended edition with the bonus chapter was worth it!

The neverending, unchanging sex scenes were unnecessary. The writing wasn't very creative and where I felt compelled to continue to read hoping for a gripping twist I was left disappointed as it never hit as much as it alluded it may. The continuous sex scenes eventually became so repetitive it got boring because the tension was eventually lost because it became expected of every chapter.
