WHERE is the magic of the first series?! I am so depressed that it is now completely gone. Nothing really happened in this one, and I was bored for most of it. I'm really over the Dark Forest storyline AND the Tribe storyline. Snoooore. Can something interesting please happen? And no, I don't mean Firestar's death, which I am positive is coming, and soon. At this point the death of a major character would just piss me off, because hardly anyone important has died in several series despite the dangers of the outdoors that the cats face. THERE ARE NO STAKES ANYMORE. I was reading my reviews of the first series yesterday, and it made me even more depressed that the rest of the series is nothing like that first set. It really is like Game of Thrones with cats, and the last 3 sets of 6 books have been season 8.

The only thing that really stood out in this one is that I feel bad for Jayfeather. I wish he could have had a normal life with Half Moon!

I have a love-hate relationship with this book. I've always loved Erin Hunter's books, but I felt they were slightly cruel in "Sign of the Moon."

After all this time, Jayfeather finally found some cat he loved and that loved him, but he never got the choice to stay with Half Moon...they were the perfect couple and I felt so sad that Jayfeather never got to feel the companionship of a mate.

Although this slight glitch in the book was present...I felt it was really well written and enjoyable. I've recommended it to many of my friends straight from the start!

It's nice to see the Tribe cats again, and for once, this was a "Warriors travel story" that wasn't horribly boring to read. ThunderClan travels once more to the Tribe when Jayfeather receives a sign that they need help. The current Stoneteller is nearing the end of his life, and he has not chosen a successor, which Jayfeather soon realizes he must help with. More interesting, however, is when Jayfeather travels back in time again as Jay's Wing, the cat he once was many years ago with the Ancients.
SpoilerI really don't want to like Jay's Wing and Half Moon being in love, because the medicine-cat-falling-in-love trope is so badly overdone, but they were sweet and it's nice that Jayfeather could realize he's loved a cat who's been long gone for generations, and still focus on his own job.
The character development is really good overall, and this is definitely one of the better Warriors books.
