Very informative and well put.
Sometimes (rare) to really understand everything you either have to have previous knowledge or use external resources to get the full picture.

I was so nervous and scared to read this book after having it sit on my shelf for so long. Following along with the audiobook and the companion book made it much more comfortable - and….I really enjoyed the little specks of humor laced throughout. Did I understand it all - NOPE, but I got the just of it and would read it again! Counting this and the companion as one book for the Read What You Own Challenge.

Very interesting! Only slightly disappointed it’s not actually narrated by Michael Jackson. I understood most of the concepts while I was hearing them, which was fun. Very cool discussion about the role of God, or the theory of God, in terms of laws of physics.

The beauty of a scientific book lies in how one explains the most critical of concepts to its readers. 'A brief history of time' does that in an effortless manner. If you are a newbie to quantum mechanics, as you read through the book, you realize how things fall into place and the logical sequence the theories and the experiments follow. If you have read books on quantum mechanics before the book will help you place it appropriately by recognizing the value and the significance of a quantum theory, and the subsequent dream of a grand unification theory. The effectiveness with which Dr.Stephen Hawking ensures that a reader understands the features of the evolution of scientific theories is the most satisfying part of this book. An excellent read for anybody who had a passion of understanding theoretical physics as a kid, or if you ever dreamt of being an astronaut shooting off in a rocket to a galaxy far far away or of time travel (Reading this you'd be able to understand and appreciate the rules that govern that kind of travel). :)

It took me a lot of time to finish it, but it's definitely worth the reading.
Hawking is targeting "average people" by simplifying cosmetics problems about existing, time and the boundaries of the universe(more like the gate of the knowledge of the mode of action of our universe).
A true scientific master piece to have on the shelf.
