Ever since reading The Most Dangerous Game in school, the idea of humans hunting humans for game and sport is always fascinating to me. From The Hunger Games to Hostel to The Running Man to The Purge, these scenarios make me super anxious and oh so happy to enjoy the tense suspense from the safety of home

How fun! I loved this book. Crazy ass story and just filled with constant action. At the end you get a little note from the author and find out something and I just don’t know what I feel about what he reveals, but still a fun, horrific, gore-filled adventure!

I only read this book cuz it was the June book club pick for Horrorin24 and OMG...I mean OMG!!!
Everithing is so fast paced and even though it's a horror novel I went into it not expecting much...When the killing started I was

Sooo many deaths and so many sadistic psychopaths!!!
The only things that didn't work for me were number of POVs...had a bit of a hard time remembering everyone and the fact that I didn't actually like any of them...Had a hard time rooting for someone.
And than the plot twist...

At first I was like...wtf is this? NOOO!...but then after finishing it...It didn't bother me that much. It is a survival horror with a fitting ending.

I was not a fan. Horror is not one of my preferred genres. However, this was selected as a book club pick for me.
The book is very fast-paced and action-packed. The writing made things very visual and easy to picture almost a movie being played out which I enjoyed. I was hooked by who I hoped would survive and there were some twists that surprised me so well done on that.
However, I found myself skimming on parts with excessive gore. Once the main villain's true plan was revealed, I thought it was a huge sidetrack from where the book seemed to be going. The sci-fi elements introduced lessened my interest greatly in a book that was already not up my alley.

I really liked the premise of this novel with the cult stuff and the gods but I feel like the plot felt super flat for me and I wasn't super into it. Also, I feel like the characters could be more well-rounded and introduced better because every time someone was introduced (besides the family) I was so confused as to who they were.

This book started so great. What's not to love? People stuck on an island resort, maniacs running lose trying to kill them. Heck yeah. My kind of book. Axes, chainsaws, swords, bows and arrows, you get the gist.
When the killing started, the billionaire said the people had an advantage. There were hundreds of guests, and only 15 murderers. The murderers had weapons. The guests didn't. Maybe it's the ARMY in me, but survival is crucial. Seems like more guests would have banded together and made some makeshift weapons. Liquor bottles, lighters, fire extinguishers, etc... Weapons aren't so hard to make. I overlooked that, because if the guests won, I guess the story would have been done.
Moving on, you have an FBI agent, who lets the bad guys take his wife instead of him. Really? What a loser. Then, he meets an ally, and they fight back. I can't tell you how much I hated the part when they attack a baddie, that had a phone, and they never used said phone to even try to contact help. What kind of agent is this loser? The rest of this review will have spoilers. Read on at your own risk.
Also, as I write this, I'm removing another half a star to make it 3.5

Once again, the ending. Totally came out of left field and ruined the story for me. Starfish monsters? I'm left w/ so many questions. What exactly did Anne's people have planned (if that had worked out)? Who came at the end? Was it really rescue? Because to hear everyone talk, the rich dude had every government agency in his pocket. Oh well. At face value, it's an entertaining read
