This book is not a chronological account of major events in the Vietnam War. It is strictly an exploration of various accounts of the unparalleled American brutality against the Vietnamese, allies and enemies alike.

This was a very difficult read just by the account of war itself but it adds a human dimension that helps grasp the war. You will not look at Vietnam the same way.

A chilling catalogue of accounts that details the atrocities committed against Vietnamese civilians by the United States military during the Vietnam War. Turse uses examples from every level, from individual GI's, to large scale policy choices and cover-ups from the US government to show that these were not isolated incidents. Certainly sobering, unfortunate that this isn't discussed more.

Not much more to say about this one honestly. It's clear that some of Turse's sources are better than others if you dive into the footnotes, but sheer volume of sources alone is remarkable. It's clear that a lot of effort went into substantiating his message.
