I liked this book. Just, the characters are all so annoying. Let me break it down:
-Gray Wing: he's so hard-headed. He just thinks that Clear Sky hasn't changed one bit and that they can get along in peace but you gotta give the cat credit because he carries the weight of a lot of cats.
-Clear Sky: that ignorant jerk. Oh god, I hated him so much.
-Thunder: ehh, little on the fence with him.
-Turtle Tail: she's so sweet and wise. I can't believe she died.
-Jackdaw's Cry: I loved him...and the whole reason I'm putting him on this list is because he is my favorite in these books...it's really a huge deal that he died.
-River Ripple: I think he might be my second fave in this series. He's so awesome sauce!

This book started slow and took me a while to get into (I can usually churn through a Warriors book in less than a week, this one took me almost a month as a result), but once the pace picked up, this book was really good. I'd say the Battle referred to in the title has some of the most solid, poetic writing seen in the series which has made me invested into this arc after a long time of umming and arring about it.

wHAT was that ending??? I’m disappointed, they could have handled that so much better. It was still a lot of fun though! I really enjoy reading about Clear Sky, and I’m glad we get Clear Sky’s POV in this book. The Tom situation is a total retcon. I vividly remember when Turtle Tail came back in the second book . The ending made me mad, but the fun kind of mad. :)
River Ripple is still my favorite character. His mere presence transforms the vibe of every scene he’s in, I love him.
