As much as enthralling and captivating the book was, I was seriously disappointed with the ending which ruined the whole reading experience for me.

Spyros Lambrou - Melina's broer.

Sidney Sheldon is in 1917 geboren in Chicago.
Sheldon was Broadway toneelschrijver in New York, scriptschrijver in Hollywood waaronder voor I dream of Jeannie.
Sidney Sheldon overleed in 2007.

*This review will not be marked for spoilers despite the possible retellings of the first book. However, I will not spoil this book. Those reading the review anyway will understand why later on, but I'm reviewing this book, not the other one. You have been warned.

Everyone experiences the same event differently despite it mostly being the same. They will always be details unique to one person or another. The very idea of this concept causes the most conflict in this book.
All the survivors of that faithful day come back in this book. They all must deal with the consequences of this event, and how it came back. It's interesting how Catherine is the most affected throughout the whole book when she technically had the least amount of action during it. But she has to deal with the broken memories of it all.
Demiris has every detail known because of this event, and he is desperate to keep it under wraps. It should be an easy victory for him, but the feeling of revenge; his love for Noelle takes over and overcomplicates the easy victory for him.

It is a joy to read how Demiris has to play chess against all the characters of the book, even newly introduced ones like Tony (He's a dick, but a loveable dick) or people who helped him like Chotas (My favourite character in this book by far).
Additionally, it's interesting to see how Catherine overcomes her problems. While I'm not a fan of how she overcame it in a way only she would do it.

However, this book gets a 4-star because it doesn't feel like a sequel. There wasn't any real reason for it to exist because the first book wrapped everything so nicely. Maybe a hint of something, but nothing so major that it deserved another book. In fact, the book is written like a standalone novel, I hesitate to call it a sequel. If you were to pick this book up, you wouldn't have a single problem understanding the plot. That's because of flashbacks, but also because everyone from the last book gets an introduction that feels like the first time you've met them. Therefore, I can't exactly say that you should read it if you're expecting a sequel.
But for what it is, the novel is an entertaining read nevertheless.

as always there are so many characters and foreign lands and foreign languages that he doesn't translate. some of the characters are just there and add nothing but added pages to the book. not the best book and of all books to make into a movie they make this into a movie. i have tried to watch it twice and can only get 15 minutes in before i get bored. not my favorite sidney sheldon book.

Not Sidney Sheldon's best...for sure...

I had no idea that this was a sequel to [b:The Other Side of Midnight|136167|The Other Side of Midnight (Midnight #1)|Sidney Sheldon|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1172077093l/136167._SY75_.jpg|1030360], but I didn't feel like I was missing out on a background story. However, this book was somewhat ridiculous in it's plot and characters.

This is the sequel to [b:The Other Side of Midnight|136167|The Other Side of Midnight|Sidney Sheldon|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1172077093s/136167.jpg|1030360], written nearly two decades later. And, it's.....aight. Catherine Douglas, who ended the previous book ensconced in a convent in a fugue state, miraculously snaps back to reality. Constantin Demiris, the billionaire who orchestrated the deaths of his cheating girlfriend and Catherine's cheating husband, is informed of her recovery and he decides he'll kill Catherine after he has a little fun with her, if yanno what I mean. A potboiler conspiracy and romance/sex ensue, because this is Sidney Sheldon.

Several characters from Midnight make appearances. This is standard Sheldon fare. I don't think it was as good as the original. Granted, I read the original in 8th grade when my literary tastes were possibly less sophisticated. Still, the original was set against the sweeping backdrop of WWII and its European aftermath. This is just Demiris (who came across as at least somewhat of a good guy in the original) wanting to rape and kill poor Catherine so he can take further revenge on her husband, who had tried to kill her and is dead anyway, so that's a stupid idea. How did this guy get to be a billionaire again?
