This second in the series utilized Hannah's wedding (Sophie's sister) as the background for murder and betrayal. As usual there were a cast of characters and everybody was a suspect. The ending had a little twist, although I had to read it a couple times to understand who was who and who killed who and why they were killed.

It's a fun, quick read. I only gave it four stars as I found Sophie to be rather sanctimonious in this book with her sister regarding the wedding.

Book two in the Domestic Diva series has event planner Sophie Wilson in charge of her sister, Hannah’s, wedding. Of course rival diva Natasha has to insert herself into the event, trashing Sophie’s decorations and color scheme for a “more modern” style. But when the groom’s ex-wife is found hanging in the brand new garden pergola, it seems that the wedding may not happen at all.

I kind of like the rivalry between Sophie and Natasha, including the competing advice given at the beginning of each chapter. But I read mysteries – even cozy mysteries – for the murder plot. And this one is just plain ridiculous. So many things made no sense whatsoever. (Why would a murderer bury a necklace rather than just pocket it?)
Oh well, it satisfied several challenges and it was a fast read.

THE DIVA TAKES THE CAKE by Krista Davis is the story about Event Planner Sophie Winston, who is in charge of organizing Hannah’s wedding…not her sister’s first wedding by far. The bad news is Sophie doesn’t like the groom-to-be at all and thinks her sister is making a huge mistake. The really bad news is the groom’s ex-wife is found murdered just down the street from Sophie’s home. Sophie is terrified that Hannah may be in danger from her future husband since he appears to be harboring secrets like the one that he even had an ex-wife. She sets out to find the killer and talk her sister out of marrying him since Hannah doesn’t seem concerned in the least. I enjoyed this book very much and was extremely happy to find there are many more books in The Diva series along with several wonderful recipes! One of those recipes included in the book is a cocktail Krista named “Wedded Blitz.” I love the tongue-in-cheek humor, especially if you are someone who is on marriage 2..3..or more as Hannah was in The Diva Takes the Cake.

Easy cozy series

Enjoying the series could do with a few less characters or a character list so I can refer back to remember who is who.

The book flows well and I like the way she writes. But these people are horrible people. SPOILERS

Okay, the bride can be unreasonable but her mom is just rude. I don't understand how in one breath they talk about how she is so kind to everyone and yet she is just rude to her daughter. I think they have messed up busybody and kind hearted. No one is very bright in this book. Wolf never suspects an error in his girlfriends behavior - really! What's up with the ex and then the author just drops everything. It was like she was bored or on a time limit and just ended the book

In this installment of the series, Sophie Winston is hosting and planning her sister's wedding. Sophie's family is less than thrilled with the groom. And the situation only gets more complicated when the groom's family shows up unexpectedly. When the groom's ex-wife is found murdered, Sophie sets out to find the culprit.

I enjoyed this book. However, there were a lot of characters. It was especially confusing near the end of the book. I had to back up and re-read a couple of times to make sure that I was clear on everyone's identity.

The mystery was fun and kept me guessing. I was completely surprised by the conclusion. I do plan to continue reading the series.
