This is a collection of essays exploring cognitive biases, cultural criticism, and even pop culture. Montell has an easygoing voice, making this a relaxed and comforting read. She writes in a manner that is conversational and friendly. No matter what, she backs up her info with sources and observations, which are always well-explained and thoughtful. I really enjoyed this books’s look at our mental coping mechanisms and how they influence our perceptions of the world - or maybe even our realities.

As an Amanda Montell enthusiast, this was exactly what I’d hoped it would be. 10/10 audiobook

Interesting and funny as always, but I felt like it was way too short.

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from the description of this book, but I quite enjoyed it! Each chapter presents a different cognitive bias and how it shows up in the modern age, with funny and relevant anecdotes that help explain the concept. I enjoyed Montell's writing style and the footnotes, and feel like she's the type of person I'd like to be friends with. Not sure I had any moments that will change my long-term thinking, but a fun read nonetheless.
