This was probably the most messed up book I've ever read by King. The entire book gave me anxiety while reading it, but it was written brilliantly. It takes a lot of talent to take basically one main character in one room, and flesh it out into an insanely unnerving novel. Aside from The Green Mile and Wizard & Glass(which doesn't really count), this is the only one of King's 90's novels I've read, and I'm definitely going to read the others to get a feel to what kind of mindset he was in. I definitely recommend, but with a caveat that you should know what you're getting into. This book is intense. Lots of sexual situations, gore, abuse, and descriptive claustrophobic situations. I've read a lot of intense horror, and a lot of Stephen King, and this one was rough. You've been warned. If you're okay with all that stuff, dive in!

Stephen King's ability to spin a tale never ceases to amaze. He was able to weave a narrative out of a woman bound in handcuffs and develop it into one of his more terrifying novels.

Well, until he lets go of the thread and delivers an anticlimactic ending.

Actual rating: 3.5 stars.

Absolutely not up to par with any of his prior books. First King novel that let me down. Pity...

I have a love and hate relationship with King.He has great ideas and I love his narration style.
But then he spoils his own books by dragging unnecessarily and adding unnecessary things to the story.
The idea of this book is good. There are some really good moments, very impactful. But King knows how to spoil it.I went "man just stop it" many times .This would have worked well as a short story or a novella.Like I said,it has it's moments and I appreciate it.

SUMMARY: Stephen King cranks up the suspense in a different kind of bedtime story. A game of seduction between a husband and wife goes horribly awry when the husband suddenly dies. But the wife's nightmare has just begun.

There's not much that I can say that everyone else hasn't but this was a fantastic read. It was very brutal and it is scary how someone can end up in this situation. I enjoyed it very much.
