I am glad I'm listening to the siege of terra series on audiobook as not sure I would be completing it otherwise. For what I think is the penultimate book in an 8 book series this contained a lot of flashbacks and origin stories for characters rather than progressing the plot. I do feel that the series is being dragged out and though the action towards the end was good fun and did setup the final book it took a long long time to get there!

I will likely complete the series listening to the audiobook as Jonathan Keeble's performance is exceptional as ever.

It was epic, grinding and hard, just like the culmination of the Siege. We're so deep into endgame that some things simply "must" happen. And yet, Aaron Dembski-Bowden manages to surprise, sometimes with genuine twists, other times with execution: switching perspectives or tone in a way that cleanses the palate just right.
There are even quick detours to explore never-before seen lore of key factions or characters, a delight for all fans invested in the world of 40k. The wait until the first half of the grand finale isn't going to be easy.
