My only complaint is what I can only assume to be the publisher's decision to whitewash the cover. Brock is African American, yet the guy on the cover, despite the blue tint, is definitely not. Kind of annoying.

This has to be my fave edition to the series so far!!!
What i loved that the other books seemed to lack was a real connection between characters.... And i think that is due to the fact Jenna isnt a breed mate... Brock shows sensitivity while still being all male and both characters have to fight for each other.... Not just oh ok nice birthmark lets find a room.
The evil loses and grows and there are big questions that need answering brilliant read!

My heart broke reading this midnight breeds book. Brock's not my favourite character but I do enjoy his loveable laughing self. I liked the small incite to hunter and Mira relationship. I really feel sorry for hunter and can't wait to see what happens in his book.

This might be my new fav, though I think Hunter's book will be extremely invigorating. I liked Brock a lot and Jenna seemed to fit really well within his life. The whole Corrine thing really was more annoying than anything because he was never going to be with her. Adrian captures me quickly with her writing and the way she intertwines the different scenes.

E' il turno delle 3 stelline. Questa serie è un'altalena di 3 e 4 cuoricini, acciderboli.
Il bacio di fuoco è da leggere subito attaccato a Il bacio oscuro, perché dal punto di vista cronologico non c'è pausa, non c'è uno stacco e perché i protagonisti hanno una parte relativamente importante nel libro precedente. Praticamente abbiamo un continuum tra un romanzo e l'altro con un cambio di testimone tra Kade e Brock. Cosa succede? Succede che - once again - il protagonista è uno delle nuove leve dell'Ordine e che il personaggio femminile è amica di quello precedente. Insomma, c'è un legame veramente solido nella trama, nei personaggi e nella tipologia di storia. Peccato che questa volta l'ambientazione sia Boston, con il conseguente sentore di stantio.
Se devo essere sincera non ho idea di cosa scrivere per questa recensione. Una volta finito, il romanzo mi ha lasciato una soddisfazione neutra, un buon ricordo ma nessuna emozione intensa, nessuna voglia di prendere subito in mano un altro romanzo. Sapere che il prossimo è su Hunter mi ha aiutata moltissimo.
Dicevo, una storia carina utile ai fini della trama base della serie, necessaria per chiudere un capitolo iniziato con il libro precedente e obbligata per sistemare altri due personaggi poco incisivi.
Brock, come Kade, è uno dei pischelli nuovi e, quindi, ha avuto poco spazio per diventare un personaggio fisso e per entrare nei nostri cuoricini. Sa il cielo che mi sono resa conto solo a metà di questo libro che Brock è un afro americano, quindi si può immaginare quanto mi sia rimasto in testa durante le sue apparizioni. Tutto sommato Brock è un buon personaggio, però poco delineato. Sembra uno stampino neutro sul quale basare un personaggio maschile tipico dei romance paranormali: gli dai i canini, gli occhi stile fendinebbia, glifi e muscoli e tié l'eroe è pronto. Nulla di particolarmente affascinante, niente carisma super sviluppato, si lascia schiacciare dalla presenza di altri personaggi (Hunteeeeeeeeeeer) pur rientrando negli standard che il ruolo richiede. Brock è ok, credo, niente di trascendentale. Jenna, invece, non mi è piaciuta. Il tipo di donna che vuole fare la dura, la maschiona, l'indipendente incattivita tutta 'lasciami in pace!' con tanto di grugno infastidito. Ma che rimanga a cuocere nel suo brodo! Ma no! L'antico la prende come cavia personale e Brock si lascia impegolare dal suo stato di damigella in pericolo. Il tira e molla emotivo di Jenna è pesantino, troppo self centered per i miei gusti. Avrei preferito uno scontro più personale tra i due personaggi, invece di Brock che insegue Jenna che a sua volta lo vuole ma non vuole cedere eccetera...noia.
Interessante, invece, lo sviluppo della trama perché sembra che le acque si stiano smuovendo e finalmente succede qualcosa di concreto: l'antico pare essere morto - per ora, non ne sono convinta - e Dragos si è ripreso in fretta dall'ultimo colpo dell'Ordine, ha in serbo un colpo basso e son curiosa di sapere cos'è.
Non mi resta che aspettare con la bava alla bocca il prossimo romanzo - esce il 27 Agosto YEAH! - perché Hunter mi ha ossessionata dalla sua prima apparizione. Le mie aspettative saranno la mia rovina.

I really enjoyed this story at first Jenna really got on my nerves by getting mad at Brock just for him helping her but she got a lot better as the book went on!

Oooh I'm sad because I don't know what's really happening to Jenna...I mean I have some guesses but I'm not sure. Gideon needs to put his brain to work and see if he can find out something because I REALLY want to know :(
I liked seeing Brock and Jenna together but they weren't my favorite couple.

Review:
The last two books in the series have been hit or miss for me (Ashes was a miss but Shades was an amazing hit). Unfortunately, Taken by Midnight is more miss than hit, although there are some highlights such as the continuing story of the battle against Dragos and the search for the missing Breedmates. I really enjoyed the fact that the women of the Order take an active role in the story and are not merely window dressing.
Another positive aspect is the information provided regarding Hunter, the cold and logical warrior who has fascinated me from book 5, and Chase who seems to be coping with some serious issues. I am eagerly awaiting their stories.
The romance is the most disappointing aspect of the book because, even though Jenna and Brock are interesting as individual characters, their relationship lacks the chemistry and intensity of connection that characterizes the other couples in the series. While you cannot help but sympathize with Jenna’s suffering, it is difficult to completely identify with someone who is completely immersed in their pain and guilt to the extent that they have almost lost the will to live. Brock, on the other hand, is an amazing hero, loving, patient and protective but his attraction to Jenna didn’t mesh with me.
Overall, the writing flows and the action scenes are excellent. However, many questions remain unanswered regarding Jenna’s transformation and I hope that details will be forthcoming in the next installments.
