I liked the characters but there was altogether too much paperwork in this book, it made the story unnecessarily boring

At this point I would probably reread Atlas Shrugged if Rose Lerner was listed as a co-author.

Sailor's Delight is a delight (you're welcome) in all the bittersweet ways Lerner excels at. The love story is tender, the gigantic, boisterous family spends just enough time on the page to leave you wanting more, the historical research is meticulous and, of course, it's a story about working class people in a genre that tends to view them as wallpaper.
