Cocky Bastard started out as a fun read, but it quickly became deeper, and I loved the second-chance-at-love aspect of it.

So if you're against stalking, steer clear of this book. I couldn't give it five stars because at times it was overly funny, I also didn't really like her perspective all that much because it sounded like she was unnaturally attached to a stranger (let's face it they both are), but she was to the point she was crying because she thought he left her and in reality his phone had died and there was an Joe wait on dinner. She also needed therapy after the 8 or 11 days of knowing him because it gave her major trust issues, but the boyfriend she lived with before that cheating on her wasn't labeled as the main reason (she mentions having to go to therapy after he left, so in the conversation it sounds like she blames it on him and not just the fact she dates wankers).

The Aussie stuff was on point most of the time. Maybe thrown in my face a little too much with certain things (tim tams and vegemite) and I feel like he should have said more slang terms like thanks instead of thank you and such just because our language is pretty lazy/casual not so formal sounding, but other than that great. Loved the camping and such, although thinking back he mentioned Melbourne and all the city people I know don't like to go camping the 'proper' way, you know, where you don't even really have a tent, my dad just uses a swag and goes fishing for a fortnight. But it was great reading.

The emotion was like 90% there, but I wasn't some sobbing mess or anything. I felt some of his emotions, usually his jealousy came across, or when he was defeated, hopeful or even begging, but sometimes I didn't get other things.

I didn't like how she played him along for so long however. It made my soul hurt and I even felt a little sorry for Dick.

Also, the goat? Wasn't loving it to be honest, but sure, why not.

On a final note, cover model 95% reminds me of Dean Geyer. Only longer hair, more beard and a lighter hair colour. He was a teen crush of mine... Sorcery.

Holy shitballs. I don't know what to say yet. What do you get when you have a Aussie soccer player, a lawyer and a goat? Yes, a goat! You get one of the most incredible stories ever. The first part of the story was funny and so crazy. I was laughing so hard. And then, well… I had my “what the heck is happening now” moment. I wasn't expecting what was happening at all. And that's what I liked about this book, it honestly surprised me - doesn't happen too often.

Aubrey is on a road trip from Chicago to California. All her stuff packed up in her Beemer, she quit her job and life back in Chicago for a fresh start. On a stop in Nebraska she meets the annoying Chase Bateman with Number 13 eyes.

Chance is on a road trip himself. When his Harley dies, he's in need of plan B to get to California. That's how he meets Aubrey and her sassy mouth. He's captured immediately and loves to mess with her.

Both of them have a great trip together and get to know each other pretty good. Aubrey loves animals, so when she almost hit a goat with her car, Chance and Aubrey have new company in their car. Did you know a goat can faint? Yeah, me neither.
Everything seems good until… it's not.

I don’t want to tell you any more about the story, cause I'd give too much away. And you need you own wtf moment, trust me. I was expecting a fun story but got so much more. The book captured my heart and goes straight to my all time favorites.

Thanks TRSOR for a copy from the author to read and review.

Charming read! I enjoyed the wild adventure between two people, a cocky Australian male and an uptight female lawyer who has been hurt by men. Wow, what a ride. When two strangers with an underlying attraction between them take a car ride across the country anything can happen. And does. All it takes is an Obama bobble head, a blind goat that faints, and a fake Vegas wedding to bring two unlikely people together. I enjoyed the read and parts had me laughing my butt off. Feel free to read and enjoy this silly ride.....pixy sticks and all. Enjoy the rush. Five stars.

I loved the first part of this book. I loved the twist/reveal! I did not see it coming at all, I was legit slack jawed upon reading it. I loved Chance and Aubrey in the beginning part of this book. They were fun and sweet and hilarious! AND THE GOAT, oh my god, I'm glad the goat stuck around - a fun, unique story element!

Everything kind of went downhill for me after the second part began.

I didn't like the way the fallout from the twist was approached. I really don't like love triangles (which I would say is present here). I can stand them, if they feel genuine, like if a character clearly has reason to have feelings for two people - but I don't think that's what happened here.

It took way too damn long for Rachel Aubrey to "get off the plane". Also, I didn't like who Chance became in the process.
