Looking for an action-packed modern-day dystopian with a full cast of badass women? Look no further!
I am a fan of PC Cast’s writing style (weird metaphors and excessive pop culture references and all), so I found it easy to get lost in Into the Mist.
Note: Though the book is marketed as “feminist,” it is more of a one-dimensional, cliche, “men suck” and “fuck the patriarchy” type of feminism. The premise is also very gender oriented, without taking into consideration gender identity nuances—only traditional binaries.
SPOILERS:
The romance is lackluster and Ford is not a very dynamic character; I felt nothing when he died. I do wish he would’ve stuck around though.

Full review to come, but this felt really TERFy. A feminist manifesto that completely excluded trans and nonbinary people. Also the men might as well have been zombies because they were SO DULL.

I love a good post-apocalyptic quest story. One where women are the main protagonists and get superpowers? I'm all in. My first P.C. Cast book. I heard about thebrelease of the book's sequel in a reader's advisory training and wanted to get acquainted with the story. Definitely a story for me. Found family, feminine rage, Justice, sadness.

A group of teachers are driving home from a teaching conference when The United States is attacked.
Bombs hit triggering earthquakes and a green mist begins to settle on the earth.
The mist is deadly to men. But to women It seems to give them special abilities. But that does not mean the women are safe.
This book had a strong season three of The Walking Dead type Feel. When you start realizing the zombies (the mist) is not the strongest monster out there… especially when you can just drive away from it.
I don’t know how many books are planned in the series.
I hope it’s a duology, in which case I would read it. But I don’t think I could handle a fun multi book series of this

I love a good post apocalyptic story. And this one was a fantastic concept, not simply because men die and women gain special powers, but more because of a restructuring of who holds power. While entertaining, I felt the characters were clique and clearly there will be a second book as the ending was flat.
