It was a bit long-winded but such a good listen! Elizabeth Evans' narration is perfection. First time a book has made me cry in years. I think I might cry every time I think of or see the phrase, "Live Manon."

Since this was the culmination of six novels (and a novella) and there were so many characters involved, there was quite a bit that had to happen in this book. It made the pacing very slow at some times, but Sarah had to bring all of these people together somehow. On the upside, I think I cried at every reunion.

I also kind of liked how she acknowledged the slow pace of things by emphasizing the passage of time, even in battles. It was noted that it would take days, weeks or months for armies to March. They didn't just miraculously show up at an inconceivable pace. And battles were not won in a matter of minutes or hours. They could take days, and the final battle takes nearly a month. I found this bit of realism to make the fantastical elements of the story feel more grounded and realistic. I was more invested to wonder if they could truly make it on time, and I was screaming and laughing crying if they (or didn't).

I do think some of the endings for some character arcs were a little too neatly tied up with a bow. But some of these folks really deserve a happy ending and I'm glad they got one.

And holy hell,
Spoilerwhen Aelin is falling through the various worlds and sees Rhysand and Feyre AND HE HELPS HER
!?! Now I know why folks get so excited about reading Sarah's other books. Which is exactly what I'm going to do next!

6/5 stars. I laughed. I cried. I was filled with sorrow and joy throughout. I will always look for these characters in every book I read.

8 books in a series is more than I have ever done, ever thought I could do, but it was so worth it. It was so daunting to start this series, but I will forever be grateful for the story these characters told, the development so many of them had, and the family found from nothing. What a beautiful but also heart wrenching way to end the series. We’re all just trying to find our place in this world. I will love these characters for the rest of my life- even writing this review I am tearing up (more like actually crying, though that may be the wine I needed to have after finishing this series). Thank you Celaena, Aelin, Dorian, Chaol, Manon, Abraxos, Asterin, Rowan, Lysandra, Fenrys, Yrene, Kaltain, and others I might have missed.

To whatever end.

LOVED

I’m so sad it’s over! I felt every emotion as I plowed through this book. I’m already missing the characters and I’ve only just finished around 3am....
