I thought this was a gentle slow-burn romance novel, and it largely read like one, until there was a spice scene that felt uncomfortably male dominant-y to me. Like Cowboy Rhett’s force-squirting whipped cream into Summer’s mouth to “shut her up” and I’m like supposed to think it’s sexy? And where on earth did the scene with the doing shots from between her breasts at a bar come from… prior to this she had been a professional PR / sports management / lawyer person for the bull rider and next thing we’re getting a teen party scene, in which whipped cream features way too much for a bar, and putting on a guy’s hat means you have to have sex with them even if you aren’t aware of this “rule”. It almost felt like it didn’t match the book’s original tone, so the sudden tone shift really took me out of the whole story.

I had been enjoying the book until that moment and I literally put it down mid sex scene and was like I can’t go on…  I no longer care about these two getting together. The uncomfortableness of her having to look after him the whole time then getting dominated (when they are getting together he says ‘tell me what you want’ and she says… ‘ruin me’…. uhhhhh what?) Prior to this is had been a slow burn, constant proximity story about two people falling for each other and opening up - a cowboy at the end of his career, and a sports manager / lawyer at the the start of hers, both with some baggage.

The other thing I found weird was the female character became responsible for everything of Rhett’s - his personal training, his injury management, doing the minute travel arrangements, following him to bars and watching him so he wouldn’t get in trouble, living with him. Would a multiple champion bull-rider not have staff other than his lawyer / manager to do that? Also doesn’t make sense as to why the owner of the company (her dad) would put a young upstart on her first job to prove herself, with an older cowboy who has a reputation as a casanova, and expect it to be a fair power dynamic and that she can “tame” him. A lot of responsibility on her when Rhett’s the one losing sponsors and behaving badly.

I’d say I got 2 thirds of the way enjoying it and then dropped it.

I wanted to read this book because it is all over the book community. I love finding new authors and I love romances and cowboys.

This book has two points of view. The first is Rhett Eaton, he is the face of professional bull riding and the golden boy. Or at least he was, until it all blew up in his face. Now, his agent has told him that he must clean up his image before the final bull riding competition. So now, he is stuck with the agent’s ball-busting daughter for the rest of the season as his full-time supervision. But he doesn’t need a babysitter, especially one with skin-tight jeans and a mouth she can’t stop running. The second point of view is Summer Hamilton, she is working for her dad’s business because she is the ultimate people-pleaser. Summer is determined to get this job done and correctly and that there aren’t boundaries to cross. Rhett’s reputation can’t take any more hits, and neither can my heart. Summer and Rhett are getting closer as the tournament is getting to the end, but Summer is knowing the man behind the mask, and I am not running.

I never knew that sports romances could be so addictive especially bull-riding romances like damn. This book was so fun and flirty, and I loved the romance between Rhett and Summer. I love the Eaton family, if they would like to adopt me that would be fantastic because I love their family dynamic and how they all instantly loved winding Rhett up about Summer, but also adored Summer and treated her like family. I loved Kip being a shit-stirrer and trying to get these two together just because he wants them both to be happy. I love the little details of the romance like Summer taking care of Rhett even though he didn’t want help and Rhett helping Summer by showing her how much she means to people and that she should be confident within herself.

I dislike Winter and Rob. I understand that she was pissed but she shouldn’t have been pissed and Summer, that had nothing to do with her. Malina is also a piece of work, and I would have hit her.  I would have liked a solid ending with what happened to Malina and Winter and Rob. All we know is that Winter still isn’t talking to Summer.

I love that Elsie has already introduced the characters of the next book and it was a solid first book and I cannot wait to carry on this series.

This book was so much fun. I loved Summer and Rhett together, I liked seeing how their relationship evolved. She didn’t push him to end his career like his family had been doing but instead could understand why he was doing it. At times did she not like it, yes but she still showed up for him.

That’s one thing I wish would have happened in this book, that his family would finally understand why he’s been doing this and just support him without making their little comments. I think if they had shown up one time it would have made a world of difference to him, that they finally were taking him serious. But otherwise I loved his family.

I also loved Summers relationship with her dad. You learn in the book about her family dynamics and I just love how her dad always made time for her, was always texting (about the job but he was making dad comments in there), his love for her was just apparent.

You also learn of some shitty things that happened in this book and honestly I think they were let off too easy. Throw ‘em under the bus.

I wish we saw more of Summer’s friend Willa cause she was fun! I know the next book is about her though so I’m not too upset.

I loved this book. It reminded me a lot of The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks when it came to the bull riding aspect, even with the way it ended. I loved Rhett and Summer, they were the perfect balance to one another and I loved how they supported one another, especially when others that should have their back didn't. The level of spice was really good as well. I was not a fan of Winter and because of it the reveal in the third act conflict didn't make me feel anything for her. I hated the step mother and she only appeared on page once. I really liked Kip but just wish he stepped up against the step mum a bit more because though I get his guilt over how Summer was conceived that doesn't giver her the right to treat Summer the way she did. I had high expectations for this romance because of the hype and it definitely lived up to it and I am so excited for the rest in the series.

I don't like the bull riding descriptions, as I consider it to be animal cruelty. The love story itself is cute though
I think the other 4 books in the series are better than this one
