Alan Bradleyn Loppusoinnun kaiku kalmistossa on Flavia de Luce -sarjan viides osa, ja ehkä kiinnostavin tähän mennessä. Arkeologiryhmä on tullut avaamaan Bishop's Laceyn pyhimyksen Tancredin haudan tämän juhlavuoden kunniaksi. Pyhimyksen haudasta löytyy tosin hieman tuoreempikin ruumis ja Flavia on tietenkin mukana tapahtumien keskipisteessä.
Tapahtumat ajoittuvat pääsiäisen aikaan. Aikaisemmat neljä osaa kattoivat yhden vuoden, eli Flavia on pian 12-vuotias. Voisin päätellä, että sarja tulee jatkamaankin samaan tahtiin. Kuudes osa ilmestyy ensi vuoden toukokuussa, enkä tiedä kuinka jaksan odottaa sitä. Suomennoksen nimi tulee olemaan "Kuolleet linnut eivät laula" ja päätellen siitä, kuinka tämä osa päättyi ja mitä seuraavasta kerrottiin Bazarin kuvastossa, osa de Lucejen isoista salaisuuksista paljastuu viimein.
De Lucejen tulevaisuus on epävarma, sillä Buckshaw ilmoitetaan myytäväksi isän rahatilanteen heikennyttyä entisestään. Edellisessä osassa esitettiin yksi keino pelastaa perheen koti, mutta Haviland ei tarttunut oljenkorteen. Reagoin tilanteeseen samoin kuin Flavia: "Senkin itsepäinen hölmö!" olisin halunnut huutaa hänelle. (s. 163)
Flavia on vain niin ihana hahmo. Hän jakelee ajatuksissaan myrkkyjä avokätisesti, kuuntelee levysoittimellaan niin Griegiä kuin Mozartia, ihmettelee, miksi kaikki aina siteraavat Hamletia halutessaan antaa itsestään viisan vaikutelman ja ovelana tyttönä hän on lukenut lääketieteen kirjoja kirjastossa vaihtamalla kansia Enid Blytonin Seikkailu -sarjan teosten kanssa. Flavia kutsuu nenäliinaa töräyttelyliinaksi ja koska luin kirjaa syksyn/alkavan talven toisen flunssan aikaan (hyggeillen peiton alla), otin tuon ilmaisun käyttöön omaan sanavarastooni.
Tämä olisi ollut oikein oivallista luettavaa Halloweenin aikaan, mutta dekkarit sopivat hyvin myös marraskuulle. Suosittelen lämpimästi tutustumaan Flaviaan, sillä hänessä on jotain kiehtovaa.

Påhittiga som få är de, både Alan Bradley och Flavia de Luce. Och jag tycker, 5 böcker in, väldigt mycket om dem. Bradley får lite extra kärlek denna gång, eftersom han tillåter Flavia att få lite extra kärlek, at long last. Välsignade unge

I liked it. I've been waiting since book 1 for what happens in the end of this book, so I'm happy about that! Can't wait for the next one.

Another enjoyable Flavia mystery. There's a bombshell at the end that makes me very glad to have the next one ready to read. In fact, no more review, going to start the next book now.

This rousing rendition of the Flavia de Luce series revolves around a man found dead in a tomb. Hmm. Perhaps I should elaborate. Very well. The church in her town is digging up the saint for which it gets its name and when they do, they find a dead man on top of the sarcophagus. Our favorite tween sleuth sneaks around the murderers and the cops to unravel the mystery herself.
The mystery of the book is no worse and no better than any of the others in the series, that's not what makes this book 4 stars. As with all great series, the subplots that are developed around the protagonist's life are really what makes the series so rich. In this book Flavia's home, Buckshaw, is put up for sale. Her father's financial troubles finally get the better of him. The tension this creates for Flavia and her sisters creates some very touching moments between them. Then there's the last sentence of the book. Wow. I had some suspicions that may be the case but hadn't thought about it for a book or two. The timing of this reveal was marvelous. Do yourself a favor and don't flip ahead and spoil it. The series will be forever changed and I don't know about you, but I'd prefer to come across this watershed moment as it was meant to be.

Flavia, Flavia… She always seems to come through with fireworks, excitement, and a dash of impropriety. If you’re still reading this series - it’s for her.
While the author could be a little lighter on the metaphors and the number of times someone hopped from “foot to foot” was eye rolling. The overall story held its spunk right to the end.
