These two show just how love grows and with determination can overcome anything.
Aoife is sassy and witty in her own books. I thought she might be a wallflower after reading Binding and Keeping 13 but she isn't at all. We really don't see her full personality in those books. I thought Joey would walk all over her but Joey is whipped and she does not let him get away with anything.
Joey puts Aoife through her paces and she stands by him through thick and thin. Joey has challenges that continue to come around and haunt his days whenever he has to deal with his family. At a young age he's had to be the parent in this household and he's had no one to fall back on but now he has Aoife and he doesn't know the right way to go about it. He falls back into old destructive habits and it breaks my heart.
Seeing Aoife and Joey's relationship form from friends to lovers over the years was funny, heartbreaking and cry-worthy. I loved every minute of it. Their friendships made throughout and the one with Gibsy was one that I adored.

Jesus, this book! I feel like I have no words, but I’ll give a half hearted attempt- half because the other half of me is still stuck in this book. I wish, with everything, I could go back and read it again for the first time.
Joey. Our sweet Joey, yall, goes THROUGH it. His childhood, his home, his teenage years. Jesus. Aoife too, yeah, but my heart was with Joey. Through all the shit, I felt like Aoife, I couldn’t let him go.
I would’ve happily read another hundred pages because, and this is my only negative, that ending was too soon. I wanted more of them happy.
I’m going back to my original statement, no words. With this book I can see why people write reviews after thinking, I can’t think. I honestly don’t see how anyone could give this less than 5 starts, it was… Jesus this book.
Oh, yeah, and a big “fuck you” to the Lynch parents. Yes, Marie included.

How? How do I write a review for this book? 5 million stars, that’s for sure. 5 isn’t enough.
“I’ve loved your daughter for 6 years, I can easily love her another 18.”
“Tell yourself that I loved you the most. I’ll be seeing ya, Molloy.”
“Nice legs.”
JOEY MOTHER F’ING LYNCH. Oh man, the things I went through emotionally with this book. And Aoife Molloy deserves just as much praise. How are these characters not real??? Binding and Keeping 13 don’t even compare. Getting to see why Joey is the way he is and how Aoife loves him through it all and sticks by him was something else. I really enjoyed the deep dive into the trauma (am i unwell?) I feel like it really helped develop connection to Joey and understanding for his actions.
(Also side note, I’d heard that these books are basically just a repeat of B&K 13 but that COULD NOT BE FURTHER from the truth. Joey has his own story and the timelines really don’t start to cross over until pretty far into the second book. I think it does a disservice to write this off as a retelling. Joey and Aoife stand on their own. And it’s better. I said what I said).
I will be needing time to process this. IM GRAND. ITS ALL F*CKING GRAND.
Also, LET US NOT FORGET Gibsie and Claire. I can’t wait for their book. I have loved Gibsie as a side character but I’m ready to read their story.

Well fuck. I don’t even have the words to describe it.
I felt so much. It was imperfectly perfect I think. Amazing
