A true mix. Some great. Some not. Almost all are at least entertaining.

Dang, I’m having such bad luck right at the end of the year :( Some of these stories were good, but some were also way too long and way too boring. For a horror anthology, only the first story actually scared me.

The rest of this anthology was 1-3, but the story "Christmas in Barcelona" made me gasp out loud. I wish this had been better. Seanan McGuire! Joshua Malerman! But unfortunately, 3 feels like a generous rating.
5/12/19: Marking it up, because I still think about Christmas in Barcelona.

I got about a quarter of the way through. A lot of the stories feel like they're unfinished or thay they ran out of ideas and they didn't know how to end it. Or they were kinda predictable.

This collection is not as strong as the roster of talent would lead you to believe, with some normally formidable authors turning in mediocre work. On the other hand, there are three or four stories in here that have to be the best holiday-themed horror, if not short stories of any kind, that I've ever read. If you're a horror movie fan and you're looking for something seasonal, don't hesitate to grab this one. With entries from Michael Koryta, Scott Smith, Christopher Golden and more, you'll be glad you did. Keep fresh candles by the tableside and pull your nightcap down snug, settle in by the fire and listen as the Herald Angels Scream.
