I keep going back and forth between liking and not liking this book, especially since I have loved everything else from this author. I love the concept of this book. I love the two viewpoints. I also found the characters relatable. However, the blatant fat phobia in this book just brings me right out of this. Stop reading here if you do not want spoilers....

This woman gets pregnant and can't stop mentioning how fat she is, like her being fat is the worst thing that has ever happened to her in her life. I repeat - she is pregnant! Your body is supposed to change when you are literally creating life! Also, fat is NOT a feeling. You can feel sad, angry, mad...as I am in this review...but fat is a characteristic, like the main character is thin and has brown hair - mere traits/characteristics. Please we must do better in writing our characters. We have to stop the stigmatization and marginalization of human beings.

Another TJR winner. I know there's some disagreement on this book but I thought it was beautiful and motivating. Unfortunately, the new Netflix movie completely ripped it off but obvs TJR did it better. In one world, she fell in love, realized she was pregnant and had to deal with the fallouts of that. In another life, she was hit by a car and lost the baby and has to deal with that. This book may be about romance, but the real love in this book is between her and her best friend. Platonic relationships make this book whole to remind us that we are never alone and no matter what path we take, there are good and bad things in both.

Pardon me for not quoting directly but my favourite part was when they were talking about their life troubles and how awful things really got and one turns to the other saying "we're doomed!" and they laughed because it was very clear how undoomed they were. I don't think I portrayed it right. Just..read the book.

Dit is volgens mij het 4e of 5e boek dat ik van Taylor Jenkins Reid las. Ze blijft me verrassen! Het liefst gaf ik 4,5 sterren en hoe dat komt wil ik eigenlijk niet verklappen. Wat ik wel kan vertellen is dat ik een boek begrip geleerd heb....multiversum
