This book had me at the word “therapy.” I’m a huge advocate for it and thought it would be fun to read a thrilling novel that is based on the idea surrounding counseling. It did not disappoint!

What I loved:
▫️quick paced
▫️short chapters
▫️untrustworthy characters
▫️multiple POVs
▫️little nuggets of information that constantly changed your perspective and created many twists

This book arrived in my lap just in time. I could tell that I was approaching a reading slump and this one energized me. It didn’t feel like anything I’ve read before (& trust me… I’ve read a ton of thriller/mysteries). I was cruising through it and anxiously anticipated when I’d be able to pick it up again.

I only gave it 4 stars and I am saving the 5 stars for those books that live rent free in my mind. This was thrilling and captivating but not quite that level for me!

Looking for a binge worthy thrill for your upcoming vacation or downtime? Here you go!

This was a solid thriller! Some of the twists were predictable, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the book and wanting to know what was going to happen next.

This was like a mystery/thriller/therapy session all wrapped into one.

Rounding up to 2.5 stars.

This book had potential but it fell flat for me.

I don’t want to rant too much. My reaction when finishing this book: it’s a meal that had great potential but was just very under seasoned.

Here are a few things I didn’t like:
- The constant switch from first to third person in between the two POVs.
- Only felt like a thriller in the literal last 30-40 pages.
- Uninteresting characters.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press for my gifted review copies.

The Golden Couple is by the amazing author duo @sarahpekkanen & @greerhendricks, who know how to write a book that has dynamic and multifaceted characters and a slow build that keeps those pages turning from start to finish.

I had the pleasure of alternating reading and listening to this upcoming book release and I had a hard time putting it down. ⁣

So, we all know one of those "Golden Couples", the ones that look like they have it all figured out but when you pull back the shiny curtain, they are normal and flawed, just like everyone else! Pekkanen and Hendricks take us there...enter Marissa and Matthew. We also meet Avery, a therapist who definitely isn't' following the rules, but desperate times call for desperate measures! ⁣

Not only are Avery's techniques on the "unconventional side" but she is also quite the detective! This story is unpredictable, clever and full of all kinds of juicy secrets. This one publishes on March 8th, and I highly recommend adding it to your late winter reading list!! 4.5/5 stars.

I feel like this book overexplained some things but at the same time didn’t give enough detail. Found it hard to piece storylines together at times, felt inorganic. The twist at the end did shock me, which is hard to do for a thriller exclusive reader but I wanted to know the characters a bit more. An easy read nonetheless! 3.8⭐️
