This book was such an odd mix of simplistic children's writing and deep philosophical ideas, that I can't quite justify the two styles in this one story. While I believe it takes great talent to even attempt it, I feel that others, like CS Lewis and Lois Lowry, managed it better. It was a good read, but not, for me, a great one.

May be I might have liked this if I read it when I was some 8 years old or so, but at this point this feels like something that lacks depth and is too simple.
