It was nice to have a conclusion to the overarching story, but other than that, nothing really happens in this - there's not really any character development. Also, this was very predictable.

Note: There's some profanity, including God's name used flippantly.

The Passion is the third and final book of the Dark Visions trilogy by L.J. Smith

Gabriel left the four others, Anna, Rob, Lewis, and Kaitlyn, to work with Mr. Zetes. He is determined to get a shard of the crystal they have nobody the cost and demonstrates to them that he means business. Kaitlyn realizes that she has to do something about Gabriel and decides to sneak off and pretend to join the Institute because the crystal needs to be destroyed. When Gabriel finds Kaitlyn, she tells him she came back to join him. At first, he believes her and gets her back into the Institute. What will happen if Gabriel finds out? He has already shown once he will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. If Gabriel finds out the real reason, will he protect Kaitlyn just when she needs him most or will he betray her and the others yet again for his own selfish reasons?

I really enjoyed this series. I got mad at Gabriel sometimes during the book, but I think it was necessary for his character. I was hesitant to even start this series because I usually don’t like more of the sci-fi elements to books, but since this is by L.J. Smith and that I’ve had the first book for so long, I decided it was time to see if this trilogy was worth reading. It definitely is. I don’t know if I like this more than the Nightworld series and Forbidden Game trilogy, but I really do love this trilogy. Any L.J. Smith fan should give this trilogy a try.

I definitely believe this was the strongest book in the Dark Visions series. I really enjoyed Kaitlyn's growth and decisions throughout this final book, as she made her own choices and fought for the people she believed in. I also loved the exploration into Gabriel's life and story, an exploration that was long overdue. The way that Smith handled Katilyn's confusion over loving Rob and Gabriel was well done and exciting. I was excited to learn who she would choose to love. Finally, Mr. Zetes was a perfect villain, and the terrible things he did were perfect for the story. I love that Katilyn and Gabriel get together in the end, and of course, the continued exploration of psychics was so much fun. I really, really enjoyed this book.

Take one obsessive old man, determined to use whatever he needs to in order to achieve his goal, a mysterious crystal, some crazy powers and a group of teens linked by telepathy and you have the ingredients for this series.
From the beginning it was clear this was a good starting point for paranormal fiction. Zetes as a character des ended into pantomime villain mode, blinded by his desire to gain power that he’d lost all semblance of humane decision-making.
In book three, Gabriel has turned to the dark side. The only way they think things can improve is to destroy the Crystal. Obviously, this will not be without danger.
Throughout, this book ramped up the action. Everything felt just a little more exaggerated, as you gained the sense of things drawing to an end.
I still found the romance element boring. The love triangle had never felt that believable, but it added a little more tension to proceedings.
Like Scooby Doo, the bad guy gets his come-uppance and the gang are together at the end. Quite silly, but entertaining in a rather odd fashion.

I thought this was okay. I thought it was predictable but it was a fun read and it was fast. I always love reading L.J. Smith books.

2.5 stars. I’m going to have to say Dark Visions was my least favorite out of the Night World books and The Passion was probably the worst. The others were bad in a good way and this wasn’t. It just wasn’t enjoyable :(
