A fascinating insight into a field of never considered before. If I or anyone close to me ever becomes a victim of a mass fatality event, Jensen is definitely the person I'd like to be working in the aftermath.

I did not expect to be so moved by this book, but am happily so as the author shows how kindness and respect can make a huge difference to those who's loved ones have been killed and their remains and possessions scattered in an explosion, a flood or a collision.

I found Jensen's dedication and mindset admirable, even if at times I wondered if he was just a bit too sure of his own righteousness.

Definitely a recommended read.

Most people are aware of disasters and tragedies that have happened across the world in the last 30 years, but few know about the group that comes in after. Who is responsible for cleaning up? How do you know which dismembered body part goes to who? Who answers family members’ questions? Jensen’s memoir gives those answers.

The stories and chapters in this book were really interesting, but I found this to be a bit disorganized, and repetitive at times.

I read this book probably 6 or 7 months ago now and I think about it almost everyday. I'm in training ti be an osteologist; I was just figuring that out back when I read this book. It for me, has been a pivotal book for my understanding of my field outside of archaeology and it opened my eyes to ways I can make a difference with my training in today's world. I never even considered doing work with modern humans until this novel. I read another 6 books, or more, about the field of modern osteological work because of this book. I decided to firmly commit to my grad school because of this book. If it wasn't clear, this book changed my life. My only 6 star read to date.  Truly excellent.
