This is my second time reading this volume, the first time being around 8-10 years ago. I absolutely adore the concept - fairy tale characters living together in New York after being driven out of their home by an as yet unidentified monster known only as "The Adversary". There is also a short story at the end of the volume which serves as a prequel and describes how Bigby was convinced by Snow to join the others even though he was a dangerous outcast.

Not my favourite style of comic, as it all felt a bit dated. I honestly loved the last story though (which was a prequel.)

I've read this comic when The Wolf Among Us first came out a couple years ago, and as I reread it I was thankfully as good as I remembered.

Fairytales have always been rather grim, but seeing this creative spin on the characters I grew up as long as everybody else in a much more modern setting is such a joy and an entertaining read as that. The whole plot that the Fables were kicked out of the Homelands by a common enemy. Either way, I look at it I love this series so much, as a comic book reader of my whole life it's honestly something more fans should get into because it's such a stunning read and there's plenty to read by the way.

But, one of the best scenes is a self-pitying monologue by Pinocchio. Honestly, that should be reason enough to read these.

I did enjoy this book and the twists on all the classic fairy tale characters and their stories. I did find myself laughing a few times and I really liked the character of the Wolf. the investigation was good and I didn't expect what happened to happen however I do think something was missing which is why I have it four stars. I liked the illustrations however lately I've read some books with art I prefer.
