Hideo Kojima shares his creative process in this book (with many many examples of works that have influenced his own). The ideas shared would be of interest to any sort of creator.

Kojima is unsurprisingly at his best while talking about the subjects closest to his heart (Blade Runner, 2001, Joy Division), but there's an overwhelming same-ness to the essays gathered here. I liked getting to hear and better understand his voice, but this felt like a largely unnecessary collection of articles that are likely better enjoyed in their original format.

I picked up this book due to my enjoyment of the series Metal Gear Solid, but I found myself entranced by the humanity that Kojima brings to his essays, the way he draws connections between media and his own work. This is a book of essays, not a guide or a memoir, but despite this, I found a deep connection with the way Kojima describes himself and his experiences. I could not stop turning the page, eager to be introduced to media that I had never encountered, some I had never even heard of. It felt like I was peaking into his mind and his thought process, and the book is well translated with engaging prose.

I look forward to coming to my own opinions on the media he has presented and also finding media that I can draw inspiration from for my own creative journeys.

A phenomenal way to feel jealous of others who read more than you do (if Goodreads isn't doing that enough for you already), as well as validation of my personal theory that we each have a sort of obligation to hone our personal media preferences to a razor's edge.

Very pop , 3-5 page essays on books , movies , manga , etc by Hideo Kojima , with a theme of “connections,” I enjoyed it

A creative genius and role model shares some of his favourite influences and inspirations--relating each one personall--making it feel like I just spent a few hours with one of my heroes. Another great thing about this book is the exposure to new movies and novels (I ordered two books that inspired Kohima), and I can't wait to jump into those next.
