A little disappointing for me. He seems to be trading on his relative fame in the British art world as a transvestite, and he didn't offer much of an academic perspective on anything. I also was drawn to the idea that this would be a humorous book, but I felt his humor was minimal and flat. He made the point that masculinity is toxic and needs to change, but by the end he was saying that masculinity is what it is and we should just accept it. The book was also part memoir and redundant, redundant. Barely getting an ok rating, and not recommendable.

Interesting perspective on masculinity offered by Grayson Perry, a book providing good insights into the male experience. The perspectives provided aren’t groundbreaking and sometimes they feel somewhat hyperbolical in order for the point to be proven, however this book serves as a great conversation starter.Â

A great extended essay on what it is to be a man in today's society.

Made me think about masculinity, never gave it much thought before.Â

Light & accessible: Not a lot new here, but it’s a quick read and would be an approachable introduction to toxic masculinity for someone not familiar with the topic
