I have to say that I really found myself enjoying this book. I wouldn't mind going to a place like Austenland, not for the love part but just to live in Austen's world for a week or two. The ending was a bit much, but overall I liked the book.

I read this in 5 hours in one sitting and thought it was absolutely charming! I felt like the whole idea of vacationing in a real Austenland was absolutely enchanting. Then the more I followed the main character the more I realized I was also obsessed with Jane Austen in a way that connected me to character maybe too closely. Not just Austen but Victorian literature since Wuthering Heights was also mentioned. I also loved the Mr. Darcy character who they call Mr. Nobely and how he brought Darcy's sullen irritability to a new light which I felt was more realistic. I definitely recommend this book for the Austen-ites as a good book that doesn't shame Austen's original stories.

Feels good to finish a book in mornings. I actually wonder to myself why did I waited for so long to dive in to this book. I got this book in hardcover in April 2013 on a booksale shop. Insane right? I can't believe I waited for 7 years to actually pick it up and read. Goodness, I love this book, I enjoyed reading it, even the annotation process that I did. I love the whole plot. The whole guessing thing between Martin and Mr. Nobley----- who would end up with Jane in the end of the story. My predictions were right all along.

At some point Jane and I had a bit of similarities (we both had failed relationships coz we both have insane standards about males--- but I learned overtime to quit that kind of thinking), that's why I feel I could relate to her well. I also had this fantasy as a teen, I wanted to get to experience living in 1800's.

The characters, they were fun. I like Jane and Mr. Nobley's witty banter. This is the kind of trope that I would never get tired of reading in novels. Battle of the wits between the main characters. I love it when the male lead is smart and that's how I see Mr. Nobley, smart but a bit arrogant. Uhuh. Mr. Darcy eh.

Favorite scene is the airport scene!! Who wouldn't love it? It's cute and hilarious. That Mr. Nobley vs Martin. Lol.

But I like it how in the end, Jane was able to push aside her fantasies about a fiction guy to finally face the reality. It really doesn't do good if we mix the reality with fiction. Though I don't stand against to those who had fictional crushes. We all have it of course.

To end my review, Shannon Hale, thank you for this novel. It made my day. Another reason why I have a smile on my face today! I love your story. Definitely recommend to those who are hopeless romantics like me. This one is for you. 4 stars for this book! I enjoyed it a lot. Hope to read more of your books this coming days.

It's an understatement to say I liked this book. It was so light and easy to read, and just the fact that every Austen fan would love to have something like that happen to him/her, made it better! It's definitely chicklit, nothing like Austen, but it's a nice reading and if I dare say, perfect for any Austen fan! ♥

I saw the movie, so that prompted me to read the book. Both the movie and the book were entertaining and fun.

Book: Austenland by Shannon Hale (@squeetus)
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Age: 13+
Publisher: Bloomsbury (@bloomsburypublishing)
Quote: “Miss Hayes, have you ever stopped to consider that you might have this all backward? That in fact you are my fantasy?”

My Thoughts: Shannon Hale is a genius! This clever, quick-witted, modern romance is dripping with Austen-crazed irony and worthy of the highest praise. Anyone who loves hunkering down with an Austen novel will absolutely love this book! Hale tells the story of woman named Jane who has never been able to find the right guy because Mr. Darcy has essentially ruined all men for her. But when her great-aunt Carolyn wills her a vacation to Austenland, a resort for the ultimate Jane Austen fan, Jane decides to get her obsession with Darcy out of her system. Little does she know, this trip may yet prove her Darcy-level standards may not be so unrealistic after all. If you are looking for a hate-to-love romantic comedy, a laugh-out-loud disaster-filled tale, and a reminder that you should never settle for less, THEN THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU!
