I read the Indonesian translated version, so my review is in Indonesian this time :)

Highly recommended!

Repetetive not only from book one to book two, not only from chapter to chaper but from paragraph to paragraph.

these short stories were very enjoyable to read - I immediately lent the book to my friend after finishing it. i accidentally picked up the sequel before reading the first iteration, but it luckily didn't matter to much. especially the last short story touched me deeply, and i annotated a lot!! unfortunately, the english translations were a bit wonky at times. i wish i could've read the original version, but unfortunately i can't read japanese lol.

This book is the first book to make me legitimately cry... The way the story connects each visit to one another is so beautiful. I also adored the characters featured in this book - they all brought so much to the words on the page. It felt as if the words were transformed into a scene around me, letting me view their lives from an omnipresent gaze. The world-building from the previous book also sets up such amazing imagery and helps us feel as if this is much more than a book; almost as if it was a portal to Funiculi Funicula. I definitely recommend this book.

A café in a little back lane in Tokyo has been selling properly made coffee for more than a century. However, this coffee shop provides its patrons with a one-of-a-kind experience: the opportunity to journey back in time.

Tales from the Cafe, by the author of Before the Coffee Gets Cold, is a narrative about four new customers, each of whom hopes to take advantage of Cafe Funiculi Funicula's time-traveling offer.

Readers of Toshikazu Kawaguchi's previous novel will acknowledge the following characters: the man who returns to see his best friend who died 22 years ago, the son who was unable to attend his own mother's funeral, the man who traveled to see the girl he could not marry, and the old detective who never gave his wife a gift.

This lovely, straightforward novel talks about people who must confront their past in order to go on with their lives. Kawaguchi once again asks the reader to consider what they would alter if they could travel back in time.

I liked this book better than the last one. I was screaming, crying, and throwing up. My therapist will hear about this.

"you're allowed to be happy..."

i have never given back-to-back books in a series a 5-star review, but I see there's a first for everything; if I could create a 'favorites' list on here, this would absolutely be on there
