I enjoyed the action of the beginning and the end, but it really slows down in the middle, and ultimately all the things they try to accomplish in the middle of the book are quickly destroyed and for naught by the end. I’m hoping the third book gives us a satisfying ending to the series.

I enjoyed this part of the trilogy even more than the first part!

The plot of the novel was less predictable than in the first part of the trilogy and contained some plot twists I did not see coming. The settings also really helped keeping the novel feeling "fresh" and interesting. However, I would have loved if the novel were a bit more detailed at some points (also to just stretch the wonderful experience of it ;D )
I also really liked that Alina and Maljen were going through some changes as characters and I also really enjoyed the new characters.

The main reason why I'm giving 5/5 stars is because I wasn't able to stop reading. The writing style made me stick to the novel. Loved it! Curious about the last past!

Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo is a captivating addition to the Grishaverse series. This installment marks a significant improvement over its predecessors, offering a more complex plot and a deeper dive into the characters.

One of the highlights of this book is Alina Starkov's continued development. We witness her grappling with the darkness within her, exploring the power of the Sun Summoner in new and intriguing ways. Bardugo does an excellent job of portraying Alina's internal conflict and her journey towards self-discovery.

The world-building in Siege and Storm is also impressive. The author expands upon the Grishaverse, introducing new locations and characters that enrich the narrative. The political intrigue and the growing threat to the Grisha realm keep the reader engaged throughout.

While the pacing might feel a bit slow at times, the overall story arc is satisfying. The climactic battle is thrilling and leaves the reader eager for more. If you're a fan of the Grishaverse, Siege and Storm is a must-read.

I am only giving this book a 4 stars because of Mal and Nikolai.

Actually, kinda disappointed. Like 70% of the book felt like absolutely nothing was happening and the remaining 30% were basically the same as the first book. Still, very looking forward to know the rest of the story!

4.5 ⭐ (stars)

Absolutely loved this book, even at this current moment as I search wildly for any kind of emotion (The ending left me rather numb). The only problem I had with this book was the inspiration to read it. It would take some rather forceful mental chiding to pick it up and read but once I did, I didn't want to put it down. So that's why I'm giving it 4.5 stars.

nikolai is really the only redeeming factor for this boring ass book. without the darkling present, we really lost a LOT of tension and conflict. also i don’t really have a problem with alina but she shouldn’t be a main character. she’s just a basic bitch chosen one with too many emotions and an unnecessary love square. she should pass over the main character to genya or nikolai.
