I think Elle Kennedy got her groove back (for lack of a better phrase) with this entire Campus Diaries series so far as I didn’t love Briar U as much as I loved Off Campus. It really feels like we’re back. She always manages to find the right balance of humor, spice, and sincerity in her writing.

I’ll be honest the first 100 pages I wasn’t sure if I was in love with this romance. The whole hate-to-love aspect of Diana and Shane’s relationship was very one-sided and I thought that Diana’s reasoning for her hatred was disproportionate to the cause. I also thought she took it too far to where it was affecting Shane in other ways which made me not love her character at first. However, as they got to know each other more and grew to become actual friends she became a much more lovable character.

The banter is top notch and I honestly was expecting a funny rom com and then it got DEEEEP. And around 70-80% ish I was pummeled by the (see CW) and I was silly and didn’t look them up.

The storyline is forced proximity/ fake dating but it’s much more than that and I was honestly surprised by the character development that came with the plot.

Oh and the spice is spicy but like 2.5/3 🌶️🌶️

Never related to how a character and their feelings are described quite like Diana. A very emotional read for sure. Many tears shed. Yet also quite healing.

Amazing steam and plot balance with plenty of humor and lovable characters. Some heavier themes.

Loveable characters, funny banter, decent spice. The HOA/neighbors group was hilarious. Also some serious, heartbreaking moments towards the end.

Did not appreciate all the copaganda or the FMC's emotionally abusive mother and how that was resolved.
