tw: blood, grief, gore, violence, loss of a loved one, mentions of rape, drugging, sex, questionable physical consent in chapter 17 due to mind control powers

I’m going to need 5-7 business days to recover from how this book made me feel. Absolute enemies-to-lovers perfection. Chef's kiss.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Kingdom of the Wicked, but this book was a complete 180 for me and had me invested from the very first page. If you've read the ACOTAR series, this sequel gave me very big ACOMAF vibes in the sense that the first book was more about establishing Emilia's (Feyre) motivations after the loss of her sister, but the sequel was much more developed in the romance plot and world building that would eventually lead into the third book. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to wait for the third book now considering there is no title and no release date in sight, but this absolutely surpassed any expectations I had upon completing book one. A very very well developed sequel and I recommend this series to anyone who is a fan of fantasy romance.

note: Kingdom of the Wicked was written very YA but this book has many more mature themes and content. This is very much new adult, so expect some mature content going into this.

“There is nothing more dangerous than a woman who owns who she is and apologizes to no one.”

Just like there is nothing better than a book that lives up to the hype!

A generous 4. I do think there's an absurdity to the story, and the MC in this particular installment was down for a roll in the hay at literally ALL times, but Kerri's writing is captivating, and her main characters aren't passive whiny girls... they're interesting, dynamic, and willing to do what it takes to complete their mission. I had a good time with this one, and I'm looking forward to reading the conclusion of this trilogy.

This was the 2nd most (sequel/prequel) boring book I've ever read
With a main lead that wanted to be smart but came out as stupid and juvenile
The plot was boring
The dialogue was boring
The ending was boring

And the attempt to make it a spicy New Adult book was laughable

I'll stop here
Not gonna read book 3 because I've read enough "same plot" to know where this is heading
Now that Emelia discovered sex, I bet book three will be chapter after chapter of it

This book was JUST SO GOOD!

One of the complaints I had for the first book was that the character wasn’t strong enough(her characterisation not fighting skills) but this book makes sure I don’t have the same complaint. I still think that the princes weren’t sinister enough and apart from those two demons no one else seems to be sinister. I don’t expect them to do bad things to Emilia but in general other than people having sex nothing else happens. There’s a brief mention about a news/gossip sheet where stuff is reported and I wish that was explored more. Everything was happening too fast to the character so much that it didn’t make sense for it to. I would’ve loved to see more side characters explored as well as the the world itself because there was obviously underlying politics going on but Emilia just dismisses it so we don’t have an opportunity to see that.

All that being said, I think Maniscalco came very far with her writing and seems to be improving with every new book. I will continue with this series and will look forward to reading anything else she comes out with.

I was pretty surprised to learn that this wasn’t YA… How did I not know that?

I loved the push and pull progression of the relationship between Emilia and Wrath. They get one step forward and move two steps back, but it was interesting for sure.

I enjoyed the realms and the atmosphere of the Seven Circles and the truths Emilia has unearthed there. There were a few things I could see coming a mile away and some things I still think are going to happen in the next book.

I didn’t enjoy this one quite as must as KotW, but I am seriously looking forward to KotF!!
