I had no expectations of this book, but it turned out I loved it. The story is maybe not the most original (the gumiho is, but the story is one we've seen a lot in supernatural books), but it is very well executed. There were some twists and turns however that I didn't see coming and I really liked how the book played with the idea of what makes good and evil.
I really liked the setting of the book. I am not the person to see how well the Korean setting is done (I don't know anything about it), but it felt really well done to me. I could feel I was reading a story in a different culture, while often it feels like they just slap different names on characters and that's it.

DNF'ed at page 80
Wanted more Korean mythology and less romance. Looking at other reviews shows that this is just going to get progressively heavier on the romance, so I'm just going to DNF it now. Just really didn't feel this one, and I am so sad about this.

I did it.
I finished it.
Okay, to start with, I thought the plot of the whole story was unique and interesting and I've never heard of Gumiho. I loved how there were little things about the myth intertwined into the story. However, I did not enjoy the romance. I know that in most fantasy there is a romantic interest, I just thought the romance was kind of... not what I wanted in the story. I knew this story was focused around romance and I was ready to love it, I just thought there wasn't a lot that happened plot-wise to move the romance forward. However, the story concept is beautiful and the writing was so seamless.

In 2016, I was investigating the #DVPit hashtag and looking through all the tweets. I came across one that mentioned the tale of the Gumiho, a creature whose existence held my interest after learning about what it was. Curious to see how it went, I bookmarked that tweet. A year or so later, I rediscovered my bookmark and found out that the book was going to be published! Cue the 2 year wait for it to be released.
And now here we are presented with a book that was everything I could have ever hoped for and more. From a blossoming romance that endured through misunderstandings and complex situations to the intensity of inter-familial relationships and the heavy weight they held on the overall story. From betrayal to redemption. From believing a character to be "wicked" to finding out that they were not, in fact, wicked at all. They just wanted to protect their family.
"Wicked Fox" is a book that sent me through an emotional roller coaster that I enjoyed every minute of, especially considering I pretty much read the entire book in one day (which isn't common for me typically).
tl;dr Read. This. Book.
