It was okay. Boring, I didn't care about any characters apart from Blaise but his character seems like someone who would be killed off unfortunately. I won't lie, I barely skimmed through the last 20 pages. It was just very very very boring

I would've liked this a lot more if say Theo was killed and then Blaise led the rebellion. Now that would've been interesting but nope nah. The same old story, poor princess trapped in her own palace as a prisoner by the big bad people who conquered her kingdom and now are humiliating her whenever they get the chance. I am bored, give me something new. Maybe I was too late to this book? I don't know, neither do I care really

I really enjoyed this book as the plot and idea of the book was amazing but unfortunately the main character honestly blabbered a lot. I found myself getting bored where there were pages of descriptions and back stories instead of things actually happening in the book. But this is a young adult novel so it’s going to be a little bit different compared to the other fantasy books I’ve been reading! The second half of the book was more interesting and had some really good plot twists that I didn’t see coming. I will end up reading the second book because I’m interested in what happens so hopefully there isn’t as much world building and more action!

It makes for an interesting story but it just seems like it's already been done. And I'm not a huge fan of love triangles. The protagonist is good but I find her a bit unlikeable. If you like the Throne of Glass series or Children of Blood & Bone, you should check this out!
