Awesome book, best in the series, and one of the best of its genre, I gave it a 10.

I started the Myron Bolitar series whilst on holiday in Ibiza in 2011, so everytime I read another one, I'm reminded of lying on a beach and having no worries. In Fade Away, Myron goes back to his basketball roots, undercover in a team to investigate the disseapparnce of their star player. I didn't quite enjoy this as much as the previous two, but it was still a decent enough crime thriller that had me turning the pages.

I liked this one better than the last, I think. Lots of moving parts, but in the end (like all superhero movies, or, let’s be honest, Agatha Christie novels that aren’t Tommy and tuppence-based), it ended up being smaller and more personal. The pseudo-second chance + revelations about the past work pretty well—poor Myron! And it doesn’t feel quite as much like it’s re-hitting the same beats (although it certainly hits some of them!).
I also liked that he shifted away from myron’s perspective sometimes—a bold choice! But it confirms one of the nice things about this series: he isn’t the hard boiled detective who will inevitably end up sad and alone…he has his people, and if we’re being allowed access to them when he isn’t around, I assume that means they’re here to stay.

Good story, love the writing style, so fast-paced, always want to turn to the next chapter and keep reading! Ending is fab as well...all I can say is KICK. HIS. ASS.

I always enjoy the humor and creative turns of phrase in these mysteries featuring sports agent Myron Bolitar. I would never read them back to back, as I suspect the tone would wear on me, but my husband and I enjoy listening to them on road trips.

Around here, the third or so book in the series I thought that the series started to hit its stride. One of the reasons I often enjoy these detective series (as opposed to a single mystery story,) is its ability to mimic long form fiction in other mediums. Much like Lost, the Sopranos, and other TV dramas of recent history have shown that a narrative strung out over extremely long arcs can be even more engrossing the ability to watch characters evolve even in these slightly bubblegum type books enhances the enjoyability of reading them.

My favorite Myron book. We finally get some background on Myron's career as a basketball player. Interesting plot with lots of twists.
