How can you beat a classic like this?? This book so clearly demonstrates what it means to be a victorian gentleman. It has inspired so many works in it's wake that it is amazing to read the real thing.

I covered the first two stories but stopping now as I’m bored so leaving the rest. Interesting to read the original Jekyll and Hyde story, which is quite different from a what has evolved from it.

A lot of this book is sadly spoiled by the fact that we know the ending through popular culture osmosis, but if you can pretend you don't know the ending it can be a fun mystery. A quick read. The ideals of the characters are also interesting in the last chapter, where "freedom" and "passionate" are apparently completely interchangeable with "evil" somehow.

Great concept and easy read! However, the narrative was predictable and too simple, lacked complexity and further mystery.

I’ve known the story of Jekyll & Hyde purely through pop culture references & homages, so I was stoked to finally read this. Because it’s a novella, it’s quick to read - the only thing that can take time is wading through the victorian-era language.

I really liked this story - the suspenseful elements, the exploration of the duality of human nature (good vs evil, conscious v subconscious), Dr Jekyll’s perspective, & even the possible queer parallels. It’s creepy but not scary; I really dig the classic gothic style.
