I just love how simply these mini-stories are presented and yet they're still so funny. Tatsu's willingness to put himself in all sorts of situations to make his wife happy is absolutely adorable. And seeing other ex-yakuza members trying to make a life for themselves among ordinary people is somehow both funny and wholesome, and I'm just here for it.

This volume wasn’t quite as surprising as volume 1 or as laugh out loud funny as volume 2. However, chapters 26 and 27 and bonus manga 1 and 2 raised the average back up. Tatsu exemplifies 💥extra💥!!

I'm enjoying these more and more! I know the selling point of this series is "scary yakuza man does housework in the most menacing ways" but I'm becoming more and more enamoured with the other aspects -- how unabashedly devoted Tatsu is to his wife; how the two of them share a single brain cell when they're together and it's BEAUTIFUL; the pleasure he takes in his cooking and knitting and cleaning. I laughed out loud just as much as I went "aww oh my God that's so sweet".
The art continues to be really clean and appealing, switching effortlessly between adorable kawaii designs and dramatic crime manga style. Great uses of low angles whenever Tatsu forgets himself and gets a little too intense.
Sadly I had to skip a volume because my not-so-local comic book was sold out (and I remember they had a bunch when I went there earlier), so apparently this is quite a hit in Norway too. The short-and-to-the-point storytelling works to its advantage in that regard: I had no issue skipping a volume, I still knew who everyone was and what their deal was, and I laughed even harder at this than volume 1.

This is just what I needed. Might just be the ultimate slump buster.

Great artwork, but the macho guy doing housework/cooking thing gets kind of old. The stories are also too short to really create much tension.
