An entertaining fast-paced action-packed read, but it was a bit lacking on deep world-building and an actual overall plot. Our FMC thief Sara bounced from quest to quest without much introduction, and the latter half of the book became a mess of clairvoyant visions that we never really got the point of. Almost every male primary character was described as hot and kept finding Sara irresistibly attractive with all the hugging and kissing -- while it can be pretty spicy, in practical terms, it seemed a bit masochistic since she kept saying no, yet the men continued to press their attentions on her.

The world seemed interesting enough with the demi-god Arcana council that I plan on continuing with the next book, but I hope the plot becomes tighter, and it's more clear where exactly the story is going.

Maybe I am just not in the mood for urban fantasy but this story seemed to have no heart. Wilde felt like a paint-by-numbers version of Anita Blake.

The writing was professional enough, although the author seemed to strain for three-syllable words. The characters though... seemed flat and stereotypical for the genre.

It only got 2 stars instead of 1 because there was standard English grammar and not quite date rape.

This was gym reading for me, aka free or cheap on the Kindle. It took me a while to get though because December is busy and I wasn't at the gym as much as I'd like. I ended up finishing this on Xmas Eve after I finished another book earlier.

I feel like I should have liked this book, but I just didn't. The premise is fine, but there were a lot of problems. This doesn't feel like a first book in a series. It feels like I'm missing a lot of backstory. And the overall story here felt disjointed and weird. There wasn't really a conclusion to a story, but more like bits and pieces of other stories that I should already be informed on, but I'm not. It read more like the episode of a tv show that's there to advance the overall story arc of the season, rather than the "monster of the week" variety. Except we're plopped right down in the middle of that story arc, without the beginning for it to make much sense. I don't know. I wouldn't read any more.

As a first in the series this left us with lots of questions.
Sara Wilde is an artifact Hunter, and when she is asked to steal a relic she opens up a lot of unusual events.
As she travels to Rome and Vegas, we learn that the devil is involved, there’s magic in abundance and Sara is determined to find some missing children.
There’s hints of a traumatic event in her past, and yet little detail is given away.
It was a light read, and the talk was not necessarily to all tastes.

Argh,
This is all over the place and not well explained to know what is going on. We do get to the girls which is what was wanted at the beginning but this seemed to have two lines going there and then after that, there was a hold new line of the powers that she has and then the new guy comes in. Are we now left we a possible triangle love life?

The beginning was so promising but things just don't get explained from there. We are just along for the ride and we really don't know that much more in the end. Yes, there was some interesting things and characters but I'm not sure where they stand or even how Wilde thinks about them. This is frustrating. And then the investigator from her past showing up last minute and throwing those questions into the pot too. I just ended up wanting it to finish.

Sara Wilde is a magical artifacts hunter extraordinaire. The book starts off in the action and doesn't really let up from there. It was go go go for Sara pretty much the entire book. She's not just a magical artifacts hunter though, she also has a personal mission. There are young psychics going missing and she's determined to locate them. All roads lead to Vegas.

I loved the element of the Arcana Council. Some of the major players in a Tarot deck were present, and I was intrigued to see how they would be portrayed. It felt like the Tarot cards were researched well and the author formed characters with the traits each card represents. The Devil's character was interesting, I'm hoping to see more of him in future installments.

My favorite was probably the Magician. He's the one that has a history with Sara, both professionally and personally. Personally, Sara is hesitant around him, but I think they'll wind up together later on in the series. Professionally, The Magician steps in for the rescue a few times because Sara got herself in a tight spot. I will say her recklessness had me wondering how she's still alive and running everywhere for magical artifacts.

Getting Wilde is a magical, action packed read. I enjoyed the book, it brought elements I haven't seen into the genre before. I'll be interested to see what happens in book two. I recommend this if you like a treasure hunter in your Urban Fantasy.

I'm unsure about this book - it ends so abruptly I feel like in the end this was just setting up future stories ?? I liked Sara and the premise/world building. It did remind me a smidge of the Zodiac series that's set in Vegas, but I think that might just be me. It's also possible I've outgrown the urban fantasy trend of sooo many hot guys being interested in main character...although The Devil was working for me.
