I absolutely devoured this book.

The writing was faced paced and the end of every short chapter left me desperate to keep reading. The definition of a page turner.

I can't deny that the actual writing/prose wasn't amazing, but it was such an addictive read it didn't matter.

I decided to read this book as I realised that although I enjoy watching thrillers, I don't tend to read them. This has definitely been a good introduction to the genre.

I see the way they look at each other after that. It's over. He's in love with her now. He's her problem.

The Housemaid by Freida McFadden is her first installment that I decided to grab because of the amount of reviews going around the internet lately on how her books are nothing but twisting. As a fan of the mystery and thriller genre myself, of course it excites me to start a new book.

Seeing that this is my first time reading Freida’s books, it wasn’t hard at all to get into her writing. It seamlessly flows and knows how to instantly grab my attention from the start. It’s pretty obvious from the fact that I finished it in one day. Although I have to admit that the plot-twist is a bit on the predictable side and the writing by itself did not wow me as much as BookTok got me hyped for, but it was still a page-turned and an easy read to start my journey for her books. It gets me excited to read her next ones. I have to agree with the people who said that this book is an easy gateway to move on from a reading slump, and it clearly helped me get through it after a full year of not touching any books.

It was a quick read. I liked how hooked and addicted I was to this book – the writing style in combination with short chapters did the job, I had “one more chapter” syndrome, and I really appreciated that.
