I really enjoyed this book and finished it in 2 days! It’s a great quick read that doesn’t require too much thinking.
I enjoyed how one of the topics discussed/utilized in the book was the gaslighting of men and making people think that women are crazy when it’s really their reality.
There were at times when I wish events were more intense, kind of like the level of “You” if that makes sense.
I wish the plot explored more of when Millie and Nina both realize they had both been locked up in the attic.
Overall, it’s a great suspense/thriller novel that isn’t too dark or unsettling! I would give it 4.5 stars

This is my second Frieda book and all I can say is wow! What a twist! I can honestly say I didn’t see it coming!
Can’t wait to read the next book!

the foreshadowing was very blatant but it was a surprise twist
with Nina actually being a victim and Andrew being abusive
I found that at times i didn’t want to read anymore because it was the same situation over and over (now i understand it was to drive home how the main character was feeling but it annoyed me) then other points i couldn’t put it down.  It felt pretty stereotypical for the characteristics of every main character, like the stuck up PTA moms and the foreign gardener who doesn’t speak english. I would say this book was exciting for the revenge aspects and a good set up for the series, but i won’t be finishing the series. The author writes in a very easy to digest way while still keeping the descriptions detailed enough; i just find that this book didn’t make me feel good. It was like it was dark for the purpose of shock or to be dark while the happy endings were glossed over.

wowwwww is all i can say. i started listening to this a couple of days ago but since it was a slower start, i procrastinated a bit on it. today i listened to the entire rest of the book from chapter 7 to the end. what a wild ride. the mystery, the thrill, and each character’s depth immediately hooked me in. it was not predictable for me at all and had me on the edge of my seat. the narration was also done beautifully to enhance the story which was a big part of keeping my interest high. i felt like i was on a rollercoaster all the way up to the ending. freida writes in a way that captivates you and is never short of surprises up to the last sentence. i thoroughly enjoyed this story and can’t wait to get through the rest of the series. certainly a new favorite for me in the thriller genre!

I hate read this book… it was my choice for book club this month so I felt obligated to finish it. But boy did I not enjoy this book. I definitely seem to be in the minority, so I’m glad it’s working for most people.

I saw the main “twist” from the first 50pgs. I did not appreciate people thinking with their sex drive rather than their brain. The ending was so convoluted & unrealistic. I have so many tabs throughout the entire book noting things that make no sense (to me).

I dunno… I’m sad it didn’t work for me because so many people love it.

Oh damm. Oh DAMM. OH DAMM. This is awesome. Millie is an ex-con looking for a new job after she was fired from her last job. Nina Winchester is looking for a housekeeper to help cook and clean but, also look after her daughter Cecelia occasionally. As Millie spends more and more time in the house she realizes that the perfect Winchesters aren't so perfect. This book is the perfect mix of slow burn and engaging. The plot unfolds at a nice pace but leaves a lot for the ending climax. My only real issue with this is a level of predictability. Not sure if its my Criminal Minds addiction or what but, The first few chapters of character description and background told me all I needed to know.
