I enjoyed this book quite a lot. I love the way this author builds suspense and was not at all bored or impatient leading up to the big reveal as some people have mentioned in other reviews. I did feel a very slight letdown at the reveal itself but I think that has mostly to do with the fact that the suspense built to a point where I had imagined so many horrible possibilities that the truth seemed tame, which really would not have been the case had this happened to me in real life. It would have been as traumatic as it was for the characters in this book.
A very enjoyable page turner with well written resolutions that didn’t leave me feeling miserable or hopeless about the state of the world.

An overly long story where nothing exciting happens. This could have easily been 300 pages.

2.5 ⭐️ I really enjoy Liane Moriarty’s writing but this book could have been 200 pages shorter. Nonetheless, enjoyed myself and always love a complicated girl friendship

This book was pretty disappointing. The characters just kept talking about something horrible that happened at a BBQ. You think it's some horrible depraved thing that occurred, and it (literally) takes half the book to find out exactly what happened. And...it wasn't some horrific thing. I mean, it was HORRIBLE, yes, but the way these people were acting you would have thought they murdered a gang of hippies or something. Way too over dramatic, and the characters aren't very likeable. Meh.

2/5 this one just didn't do it for me. i didn't really care for either of the fmcs and the most entertaining part of this was the children. i could certainly see this being more up someone's alley in a different phase of life, but for now. no thanks.

I HATED THIS BOOK.
I found the narrator harsh and difficult to listen to and I normally like Australian accents.
The circular telling of the story always going back to the "afternoon at the BBQ" was annoying.
Clementine was not likable. I really liked Tiffany and Vid; Erika was ok - the men (Sam and Oliver) were really pretty unremarkable. Lots of character back and forth....
The subject matter was ok and in the end there was some redemption for the characters but overall I felt that it was a waste of 17 hours that I won't ever get back!

Good once you have the whole picture, but I am weary of Moriarty's model of being incredibly mysterious for 60 percent of the book, to the point of distraction, then hitting the big reveal with little reveals towards the end. It worked well in Big Little Lies, but that is because the mystery was part of the story line, not something held back from just the readers. Here, it was just annoying, like being on the outside of an inside joke, and by the time you are brought in, you don't much care anymore why it was funny.
That said, once the "reveal" happened, I enjoyed how it all unfolded, and appreciated the different angles taken by all the characters.
