This is very intriguing and important story. It's not long and it's well told. So I recommend to everyone to read it. I find the book to be much more interesting and nuanced than the movie adaptation, as often is the case. So yes, read it!

Auido
The concept was intriguing, and the text that followed was just as interesting. This has as much to do with his undercover operation with the klan, as it does racism in his own police department. Worth the read.

really debating between 2 and 3 stars so 2.5

it was a fascinating story/investigation but it was written to be repetitive and often times nothing happened. i found myself zoning out really quickly and just picking up at some random paragraph bc i wasn’t bothered to re-read what i might’ve missed

i really wanted to enjoy this book since clips i’ve seen from the movie seemed good, but the book was just boring and i read so much of it just now in one sitting just so i could get it over with

i wasn’t really feeling it from the start and i hoped it would get better but unfortunately it didn’t :( it was entertaining however seeing how idiotic and oblivious the kkk was, but for the most part it was, like i said, boring and repetitive and there wasn’t much of a story. but i guess since it is a real story, i can’t expect too much drama and entertainment.

ok i wrote this review with a 3 star rating but i have very few good things to say so i i’m dropping it to a 2 as a low 2.5 - sorry ron :( for a book that was half the length of the last
book i read, it took the same amount of days to finish which isn’t a good thing

a fascinating story that really should have been written by a ghost writer. stallworth is not a strong author and can ramble at times. he also likes to repeat names, events, and concepts ad nauseam as if the reader would forget between chapters. the audiobook was a bit of a slog as well, since stallworth isn’t a very good orator.

from a political standpoint, the methodology used by the police and stallworth’s insistence on equivocating the Klan with anti-racist demonstrators are par for the course. he claims that police are the best tool to fight racist organizing, while not mentioning the infiltration of KKK members and neo nazis into police departments. ironically, he never arrests or charges any of the members of the local Klan, but he still considers it a success.

Super interesting story. The author is clearly not a writer so it reads a bit like a police report. Very matter of fact and lots of little details that aren’t really necessary. (Like the exact address where a meeting took place.) It would be a better read if he had gotten a co-writer or a ghost writer but it’s still worth reading. 3.75 mostly for the actual content.

Ron Stallworth is the coolest and bravest person I have ever read about - I admire him so much for his work in the Colorado police department. A must read.
