3.5 stars.

I had high expectations for this book, given the reviews. I loved the setting/atmosphere, but I disliked most of the characters, except for Nuria Monfort. She was the only woman who wasn't treated like a piece of meat by the protagonist--who didn't seem to find much respect for women outside of their physical beauty.

Overall, the book reads like a love letter to Barcelona--which, I think, is why I still found the book quite charming despite the one dimensional main character.

Almost 5 stars. As each new character appears the author writes a backstory. I loved each one and couldn't wait for the next. Reading each was deeply satisfying. Most of the story is about the search for a missing author and why someone is burning his books. Towards the end the structure changes and a long letter by one of the characters explains most of the mystery. This wasn't as much fun. I found out that there are 4 books in this series but I'm not ready for another book on depressing Franco Spain.

Questo libro è pieno di mistero e non riuscivo davvero a smettere di leggerlo. Mi è piaciuto moltissimo e lo consiglierei a chiunque, specialmente a chi ama i gialli o un po’ di suspense.
