You guys, I DID IT. I read a classic, on purpose, for fun, no schoolr requirement...and I actually LOVED IT??? Pride and Prejudice is obviously one of the most well-known classics of all time. I hated reading classics in high school but knew that one day when I had the time I would like to try. Well, with being on winter break from school, I had the time to actually force myself to sit through the old language and intimidation writing. I am so glad I did.

I have never read Jane Austen before and wow, she is actually funny. There were a few moments I laughed out loud at some of the sarcasm and wit. I love the romance aspect of course--not just between Mr Darcy and Elizabeth, but also Jane and Mr Bingley. However, I think my favorite thing about this book is watching Elizabeth grow up and being shocked everytime she does something very feminist for the time. Jane Austen must have been a kick to be around because so much of what she writes would not have been accepted in reality I am sure.

Once I got over the language, I really enjoyed this story and the dialogue. I understand why peole read classics. It feels so human to connect with the feelings and circumstances of people 200 years ago. I am proud of myself for finishing, now to pick out the next classic:)

I love Jane Austin, and this is my favourite book of hers. I don't think I can say anything new about a classic so I won't try. What I will say though is if you haven't dipped into classics before, for not knowing where to start or from intimidation of language, this is a great gateway choice. It has always felt incredibly modern and relevant to me.

If you haven't liked classics this far because of their fr quently slow paced nature however, this one isn't for you.

This is definitely not the type of book I would usually read, but I actually really enjoyed it. It took me a while to get used to the writing style, but once I did it was an easy and entertaining read.

I loved Elizabeth and Darcy. Their interactions with each other were great and I kind of wish the book focused more on them instead of taking breaks here and there to focus on Jane, Charlotte, and Lydia's romances.
