I loved this! I'm a huge fan of Jenne's Youtube channel, and her upbeat, kind spirit reflects just as well in text as it does on screen. Plus, the recipes looked amazing! I bookmarked a ton of them, and made two, the Sweet Potato Home Fries, and the Coconut Corn Chowder, the same day! The home fries were pretty good - I cut the oil by 75% and made them in the air fryer, so I think any dryness is my own bad, but the flavor of the spices was great. The Coconut Corn Chowder is out of this world amazing - never again will I lament the lack of cream-based soup in my life! So so good. I can't wait to try the Sweet Potato Pie Smoothie!

I've found this cookbook to be a bit underwhelming. Most recipes are quite standard and not that original. I bought it, because I was curious to see vegan soul food, but most of the recipes didn't stand out to me. It's easy, simple food for weeknights, but that's not really what excites me. Although I have to say that I loved the sweet potato biscuits. Those were delicious.
Tbh, I would pass on this one. 2.5 stars.

you know, I never buy sweet potatoes anymore, and this helps change that outlook - plus, history and inspiration, galore!

Great cookbook and loved reading the author's introduction and connection to the recipes. Some amazing sounding recipes, although not necessarily a staple cookbook that you could use most nights of the week. Would have loved some nutritional information about the recipes. Lots of photos to help you pick what meals you want to cook.

Love her Youtube channel so I thought I'd grab her book. I've tried several recipes and so far they've all been fantastic.

2.5 stars rounded up. Yes, there are some recipes I'll try. But holy sweet potato batman! It is almost every single recipe including... green bean casserole! What?! Her descriptions were a bit off-putting as well. The exclamation points, the "oh this is just as good as meat" - it felt preachy and fake all at the same time.
